REVIEW: City Worship Project

I (Shannon “Saint” Lewis) remember that moment. I’d written original worship songs before, & I’d taught & led them at our church’s Youth ministry on occasion. However, that moment when one of my songs really seemed to speak to our people, was added to our Sunday morning rotation, & became a part of our church’s spiritual life – I knew I wanted to share that special song with others, but I wasn’t quite sure how. I do wish the City Worship Project had been available to me then.

Our heart is to see songs from the church to the church,” says Ascension Worship‘s CEO & Founder, Jamie Miley. “There is nothing greater as a writer than to know that the song God breathed in you is being used to touch so many in the Kingdom of God!” That’s the heart behind Ascension’s City Worship Project. He explained, “We look for strong biblical content, an easy melody for the congregation, and a style that is not locked down to one genre.

Have you written a song that’s working well at your church? Do you wonder if that song may have the potential impact others? The submission process is simple, & if your song is selected by their panel of worship songwriting professionals, Ascension has the resources to record the song, publish, & release it to their network, along with other resources, making it simple for members to use your song. Here’s their immediate reach:

Needless to say, that’s a LOT of worship pastors/leaders/directors at a lot of churches.

I write this from experience. For the month of May the featured song was one I had co-written, “You won’t Stop“, & for City Worship Project subscribers (a free subscription), the mp3, detailed charts, & other resources were available as a free download bundle. That’s not only a value for the writer, but for the subscriber looking for great new songs written from within the local church, for the local church.

So, whether you’re a creative within the church, penning your church’s sung theology, or a Worship Pastor/Director/Leader looking for that special song that you haven’t found yet on mainstream Christian radio, the City Worship Project is of value to you.

June’s featured song, “Spirit Move“, goes live soon, & it’s an absolutely beautiful song you’ll want to introduce at your church. Let me suggest you sign up right away.
