Youth Worship Idea- Cell Phone Prayer List
September 8, 2009
Last year I wrote about my experience at National Youth Workers Convention where we used our cell phones for one type of interactive prayer experience, and to ask questions and interact with the speaker.
Here is another way that you can use this technology that the kids have with them constantly to encourage prayer.
Most cell phones have a list of favorites, or frequently called numbers. Have the kids pull out their phones and look at the top 10 people on that list. Ask the kids how much time they spend talking to those in this list. Then ask how much time they spend praying for those in this list. Give your kids some time to pray for those ten people by name.
What other ways have you used cell phones in church?
Even though sometimes useful, is it a good thing to encourage youth to use cell phones in church?

Great ideas - will pass on to our youth leaders!
I don't think this needs to be confined to the youth group or Sunday school class. The cell phone is ubiquitous enough that almost everyone has one. They're a part of our daily lives. I don't think it would shock grown-ups if we asked them to do this.
Here's our idea. After having people scroll through their contacts open to someone God has placed on their heart. We give them time to pray briefly for that person.
Then we invite people to call that person right then. "Tell them you were thinking about them and that you just prayed for them."
