gleen-packiam

Glenn Packiam has released The Mystery of Faith from Integrity Music today.

With The Mystery of Faith EP, Packiam shares six new songs woven together with the Nicene Creed and a spoken-word prayer to express the shared foundational beliefs of Christianity while “telling the story of our faith.” The songs were penned by Packiam with guest co-writers Desperation Band’s Jon Egan (Magnified/I Am Free), Dove Award winning “Songwriter of the Year” Jennie Lee Riddle (Revelation Song/One True God), Dove Award winning producer/songwriter Ian Eskelin (Crazy Love/Beautiful, Beautiful) and best-selling author Ian Cron (Chasing Francis).

Ask Glenn questions about his new project & ebook…

We’ll be sending 10 or so questions to Glenn for him to answer. He was so gracious last time and answered our questions via video. If you could sit down with Glenn and listen to his heart and allow him to coach you in songwriting and leading worship, what ONE question would you ask? Please limit yourself to just ONE (1) question! Ask your question in the COMMENTS BELOW. We’ll follow up this post with another post with his responses!

8 Tips for Leading Kids In Worship

Here are some great tips from Fred McKinnon, TWC Founder for leading elementary school age children in musical worship.

This Sunday morning I experienced one of the greatest joys of leading worship. As I looked down from my position on stage during our closing song I saw my daughter, Rebekah. She was standing next to her friend Ginger and both girls had their eyes closed and little hands raised in worship as they sang “How Great is our God.”

The song was in their hearts as they weren’t staring at us or the lyrics. These girls have professed Jesus Christ as their Lord and they were truly worshiping Him.

These girls are 8-years old.

10 Tips for Co-writing

Thanks to Matthew Reed & Becki Ryan for sharing these tips with The Worship Community!

1. Be Prepared

There are many steps to be prepared for a co-write. Bringing an idea is definitely one of them, but I believe the best asset you can bring to a co-write is hours of writing on your own. Yes, you can practice writing. There are tons of exercises out there and simply writing a certain number of songs per week will help bring a regiment to your skill.

I heard Tony Wood say one time, “I don’t write when I am inspired, I write to be inspired.” More importantly, a lifestyle of prayer and being in the Word will help prepare you with ideas and inspiration to draw from.

Do You Have Musical Benchmarks For Your Worship Team?

Thanks to Steve Ball for sharing his thoughts with The Worship Community! Republished with permission – originally published here.

I believe we should all be aiming to excel in what we do – both individually and as part of the worship team. But having a musical benchmark that doesn’t enable new members to join easily really bothers me. Maybe it’s my ‘music teacher’ background wanting to see students develop, but I’ve seen too many people get discouraged (or worse, hurt) over the years by being told they are not good enough.

Calling All Souls

2 Corinthians 5:17-20 “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come! All this is from God, Who reconciled us to Himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to Himself in Christ, not counting men’s sins against them. And He has committed to us the message of reconciliation. We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making His appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God.” [Read more...]

Sojourn Music presents A Child Is Born

Release Date: November 22, 2011

Free Track at NoiseTrade

Christmas at Sojourn has always been a unique thing. From the first year in the life of the church, Sojourn have been fascinated by the more gritty side of the Christmas story. The church fathers chose the darkest time of the year to celebrate the dawning of the Light of Lights in the birth of Christ, the entrance of hope into darkness. The Christmas story itself is one of contrasts – God as a baby. A king in a manger. His birth was welcomed not by crowds and royalty, but by outcasts and foreigners. Because the Christmas story is ultimately a story of hope for the hopeless, healing for the broken, and light in the darkness. [Read more...]
