Sunday, March 14, 2010

Welcome to the 86th consecutive week of “Sunday Setlists”. The purpose of “Sunday Setlists” is to share a recap of your worship services. What songs did you use, what arrangements? What worked really well and what didn’t work as well as you’d like? What issues did you have preparing? What is the sermon series? How about creative elements used in the service? You don’t have to be the pastor or worship leader to participate. We would really love to get reviews from the perspective of those in our congregations each week.

  3. Viclyn's Avatar Viclyn says:

We had the Ugandan Children's Choir this morning, so we only opened with 2 songs.

    Some observations:

That meeting in a theater causes a great deal of stress when there are extra movement/elements. Our regular mixer lost the right channel so we were using a smaller mixer, so there was a great deal of plugging and unplugging. Things didn't exactly run all that smoothly as a result. At the last church I was at you would have heard and seen the stress but at this church everybody took it in great stride and people offered a great deal of grace. I realized I'm in a much healthier environment as a result.

Secondly, the children did great but there was something about how they sang in their own language than when they were singing in English. There was just a light in their eyes. I kind of wonder if the words in worship get lost in translation. Hmmmm

    The Orchard Community.

    Rain Down (Delirious)
    Mighty to Save (Hillsong United)
    You'll Come (Hillsong United)
    Kind and Generous (Natalie Merchant)
    Letting Go (Matt Maher)

This was the last weekend in our Generosity Challenge series. Congregation members were encouraged to send in photos of people who have contributed to their lives through generosity, and the images were shown in the background while we played 'Kind and Generous.' It was very sincere, and a wonderful experience being a part of reminding others of what a blessing it is when we are generous.
