Sunday, Jan 31, 2009

Welcome to the 80th consecutive week of “Sunday Setlists”. The purpose of “Sunday Setlists” is to share a recap of your worship services. What songs did you use, what arrangements? What worked really well and what didn’t work as well as you’d like? What issues did you have preparing? What is the sermon series? How about creative elements used in the service? You don’t have to be the pastor or worship leader to participate. We would really love to get reviews from the perspective of those in our congregations each week.

Here are my song sets. We are on the last day of our annual missions festival.

Today is the Day - Brewster & Baloche
Lord Reign in Me - Brown
    Rock of Ages - Baloche

Come Ye Sinners - Words: Josephe Hart/ Music by Threlkeld, Amini & Smiley (we only did this song in our first service; didn't flow very well, so we dropped it for our second service)
    Amazed - Anderson
Hear Our Praises - Morgan (Hillsongs)

  4. Boazcat's Avatar Boazcat says:

We combined out traditional and contemporary service together because of weather issues. I love it when we do this! It's amazing to me that I felt lots of things didn't work out like I planned, but the spirit of God was definitely a part of our service. Some of the transitions were rough because we combined the two song lists into one, but it worked.

    Happy Day - Tim Hughes
    My Life is in You
God of Wonders - Kutless version
Lord I Give You My Heart
I Will Rise - Chris Tomlin

Communion Service today, and it went very well. We had somewhat of an open forum (we are small, so we can get away with this) and were able to share with each other God's work in our lives - particularly in how it relates to Worship, Community & Mission.

Our setlist! Nothing but the Blood (hymn, but ratcheted up several notches), We Fall Down, I Surrender All (traditional hymn), You Are My All in All

It went...o'kay...need to smooth out transitions - its my weakness. Ended on a strong note, though & God blesses it all when its done for Him, right?!

just from the quick posts on here it looks like there were a lot of great sets this weekend. we had good sets this morning at Heartland Community Church, and we're looking forward to this evening's service too. all the best to you all or y'all (depending on where yer from)

  7. As always, worship was a blessing. I don't know if I can remember all the titles we did. I am only the keyboard player and don't tend to bring home the list with me and ...ahem... short term memory...

A hymn (it might have been All hail the power.. but I think that is the one we did last week.. )
The one that is an echo song.. (except for refrain).. and I can't remember the title)
Sweet something.. it was a new one (don't remember whole title)
    Rain Down
    Holy Spirit Rain down
    Revelation Song

ok.. I didn't do well at remembering.. but oh well it was GOOD.. I love being part of the worship team.

Great worship at Life Church today. We introduced our brand new gospel worship team, which gave us a very different way into the presence of God. Well received by the congregation, and did a fantastic job!

  12. dmartin's Avatar dmartin says:

Because of snow, we "merged" our two services. One is a blended service led by piano, keys, bass, drums and a couple horns. The other is our more contemporary service led by our band. Our band led the service, but we made some adjustments for the mixed crowd. But the worship was GREAT. Very passionate, with great participation.

    Opened with:
All Because of Jesus (Casting Crowns)
after a welcome and our kids singing
we used a set that included:
    Hosanna (Praise is Rising)
    to
    New Doxology
    and finally,
You are My All in All
we have an invitation which was,
Take My Life (Here am I)

  13. Stir Up a Hunger - Baloche
    Choir - Revive Us, O Lord -
Hosanna (Praise is Rising) - Baloche/Brown
    Changed - Aaron Niequist
    Let Your Heart Be Broken

Nice use of that song! I love it. its such a creative way of conveying outreach and being stewards of the Word. I wasn't sure if anyone else had heard of that song...

Our service was based on the idea of "Consumption vs. Contentment" Here are the tunes we did...

You Hold It All Desperation Band
Come Thou Fount Passion Version (DCB)
All I Need is You Hillsong United
Blessed Be Your Name Tree 63

It was a musically light week for us, we usually do 5 or 6 tunes. Very powerful though...

    Blessings,
    hammer

Crowder's "The Glory of it All" has hit me really hard over the past couple of months. I can't stop being overwhelmed by the way God revealed His glory by becoming just like me. How can that be?

    Have a great week, everyone!

Was snowed and iced out this week. Hoping to list my first setlist this Sunday.

  17. Sunday, January 24 was the VERY FIRST CONTEMPORARY SERVICE at Trinity Presbyterian Church in Venice, FL!! What had been a whisper in the hearts of many for years became a reality! God truly blessed...we were expecting about 65-75, and He blessed us with 178!! The congregation is very traditional and, like most of Florida, primarily the older retired generation. But with the leadership of our Pastor, they have reached out to begin a TLC Contemporary Worship. Many of our Praise Team don't have a contemporary music background, and we will be "blending" for a while as we bring people slowly into contemporary music. Pray for our new ministry!
Here's the setlist for our first Sunday:

1st Set (before worship): Cry of My Heart
    Show Me Your Ways
    My Redeemer Lives
    Opening Set: Friend of God
God Is Good All the Time
How Great is Our God/How Great Thou Art
    Offering: Glory to God Forever
Before Sermon: You Are Awesome in THis Place
Closing: Amazing Grace (My Chains Are Gone)
Out The Door (OTD): Friend of God
    _ _ _ _ _ _ _

Jan. 31: Glory to God Forever
    Step By Step
I Have Decided to Follow Jesus (really rocked with a calypso beat!!)
Offering: Just A Closer Walk With Thee (jazz combo set)
    Before Sermon: Sanctuary
    Closing: Show Me Your Ways
OTD: Rise Up and Praise Him
    _ _ _ _ _ _ _

Feb. 7 Blessed Be Your Name
Glory To God Forever (last week for this--we've been teaching it to the congregation)
Blessed Assurance (rockin' with a jazz style!)

Offering: Praise Handbells: Jesus Medley: Jesus Name Above All Names and Open My Eyes, Lord
Before Sermon: (we'll sing with the handbells): Jesus Name Above All Names and Open My Eyes, Lord
    Closing: Forever
OTD: Blessed Be Your Name (reprise)
    _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _

And any suggestions/comments for beginning our new service would be most appreciated!
