We had plenty of joy in our hearts this weekend. On Friday, Bo was admitted to the hospital with a hole in his lung. He had air leaking into his chest and neck, and he sounded like the mayor of Munchkinland when he talked. (Wizard of Oz for those of you not old enough to catch the reference…) It started with a terrible asthma attack on Thursday evening, and after a trip to the emergency room Friday morning, the doctors began to make plans to do thoracic surgery. That was not necessary, however, because the Great Physician was already orchestrating a miraculous healing for Bo. On Saturday morning, he was given a CT scan to locate the hold, and it was gone. No trace of it, and by the early afternoon, Bo was released from the hospital. Further tests on Monday failed to find the hole, and we are happy to claim the healing from God.

Of course, we didn’t let Bo sing the whole weekend. He stayed home from church Saturday to recover from his ordeal, but he was back on the worship platforms Sunday afternoon, playing better than ever, but not singing. I was happy to fill in leading the singing at Upper Room Worship on Sunday morning, and the team responded great. After a very tense couple of days, the worship felt especially good to my wife and I, knowing that God had worked a miracle for our son.

Some last-minute changes due to the St. Patrick’s Day holiday caused us to be scrambling to find a replacement drummer on Sunday afternoon, and after contacting fifteen drummers, a guy who had never played with us came to stand in the gap for our evening worship. Peter is more of a piano player than a drummer, but he played great and blessed the congregation and received a blessing himself, and we were once again thankful for God’s provision!
