A great week at Journey of Faith as we explored why it matters what we believe.

powerful service – i wish the world could hear these testimonies of marriages exposed and how despite the challenges, these couples are sticking to covenant. Completely inspiring.

First timer here…Counting on God, How Can I Keep from Singing; then we led into a time of communion with Draw Me Close, then while receiving Communion Just As I Am (with the update by R Cottrell) and response song Giving It All to You. Our theme was focused on being the church–on mission. Christ has invited us to “come and see” and now sends us just as the Father sent the Son.

    Great day!

We had our second annual Pop Music Sunday this last Sunday, taking songs that have been radio hits and have a faith story behind them, and using each song as a mini-sermon that express values or a faith story, or reflects a scripture verse. This year we did Stevie Wonder’s “Higher Ground”, Curtis Mayfield’s “People Get Ready”, Van Morrison’s “Have I Told You Lately,”, Switchfoot’s “Stars,” Foreigner’s “I Want to Know What Love Is,” Carrie Underwood’s “Jesus, Take the Wheel,” Lenny Kravitz “Are You Gonna Go My Way,” U2′s “All Because of You,” Jewel’s “Hands” and ended with Bruce Springsteen’s “The Rising.” It was really cool, and a great way to mix things up musically for a week, and give the musicians a way to work towards something a little different.

THis past Sunday we had an entire service of ‘Mumford and Sons’ style worship, singing a few traditional spirituals, some Irish style hymns, and a few songs by Rend Collective Experiment. It created an incredible upbeat worship atmosphere compared to the normal praise song/Hillsong style. All we need now is a stumpf fiddle! http://ourloverevolution.wordpress.com/2012/09/10/sunday-music-set-rally-day-edition-september-9-2012/

I was amazed at how God lead us to plan worship weeks ago that spoke to a very difficult situation this weekend. http://mhsmith.us/S90f4v
