Sunday, February 13, 2011

Welcome to the 134th consecutive week of “Sunday Setlists”. The purpose of “Sunday Setlists” is to share a recap of your worship services. What songs did you use, what arrangements? What worked really well and what didn’t work as well as you’d like? What issues did you have preparing? What is the sermon series? How about creative elements used in the service? You don’t have to be the pastor or worship leader to participate. We would really love to get reviews from the perspective of those in our congregations each week.

Click here to receive an email reminder each week to participate.

    Hi,

Just have a question. Is it possible to sing, or lead worship, without having the words available? My church still uses stands for songbooks and we have been asked to challenge ourselves and learn the lyrics, so come Sunday service, we should have the lyrics memorised. A few of the vocalists have objected to NO words, although I think we could do it, I mean, its not that hard to remember 4 songs every week now? or is it?

I think you’d need to definitely determine what is best for your team and congregation. If it causes members of your team to falter and not play/sing with excellence, I’d worry more about that than how it looks if they use a music stand or not.

I’d suggest explaining lovingly why you’d like to give it a shot. Don’t force it. And don’t make it a mandatory requirement until AFTER you’ve figured out if it’s really doable.
