Sunday Setlists #131 – January 23, 2011

Share your worship confessionals, recaps, and setlists for the week of: Sunday, January 23, 2011

Welcome to the 131st consecutive week of “Sunday Setlists”. The purpose of “Sunday Setlists” is to share a recap of your worship services. What songs did you use, what arrangements? What worked really well and what didn’t work as well as you’d like? What issues did you have preparing? What is the sermon series? How about creative elements used in the service? You don’t have to be the pastor or worship leader to participate. We would really love to get reviews from the perspective of those in our congregations each week.

Click here to receive an email reminder each week to participate.

    Hi folks

I’m rejoining Sunday Setlists. We planted in September and have no musicians, which can be challenging! We try to keep it fairly simple. We mostly sing to CD’s (finding singable stuff can also be challening) & just off of songsheets (God recently provided for a projector but we don’t have anyone to operate it during worship) but I occasionally do alternative worship, too. Praying for musicians this year.

I started out reading from Acts 16 where Paul and Silas are in prison and singing. I wanted it to be clear that worship under difficult circumstances is often not something we feel like doing but rather an act of the will. Mark preached about the armour of God and spiritual warfare and this passage is a great example where worship can lead to some pretty exciting freedom!

    We sang:
    Desert Song
The Wonderful Cross – MW Smith version (an oldie but it went down really well)
At the Foot of the Cross (Ashes to Beauty)
    We Fall Down

I thought about Isaiah 6 whilst we were singing ‘And we cry holy’ and decided to read it. It fitted with a two parter that we ran over the previous two weeks, and it seemed right.

Thanks for posting, guys. Never underestimate who may be reading and who you may be encouraging. Keep up the great work!
