I first heard the hymn while attending Hollywood Presbyterian Church back in the late 1980's and found the words poignant and the music profoundly beautiful and even mesmerizing. This CD's interpretation, which is contemporary in style, fails to embody the hymns original grandeur and is easily forgettable. Nonetheless, I listened to the other hymns contained on CD and though anything, which glorifies our Savior, is in itself wonderful, the music may disappoint those who wish to hear hymns whose music does not detract from their original composition. I agree the music is a little cheesy, but the words. The words. They stay with you and stay with you. "It is not death to die" "Come weary saints, hide away in the love of Jesus" They are truly fantastic. I rarely play a congregational Christian CD over and over.
