Would totally agree that "Hide Away in the Love of Jesus" would make a great musical item to minister to those suffering: we did that recently in our Sunday morning service: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3S_rfNhTKGI

I specifically purchased the CD because of the one hymn, "Oh [O] The Deep Deep Love of Jesus" which was written by Samuel Trevor Francis.

I first heard the hymn while attending Hollywood Presbyterian Church back in the late 1980's and found the words poignant and the music profoundly beautiful and even mesmerizing. This CD's interpretation, which is contemporary in style, fails to embody the hymns original grandeur and is easily forgettable. Nonetheless, I listened to the other hymns contained on CD and though anything, which glorifies our Savior, is in itself wonderful, the music may disappoint those who wish to hear hymns whose music does not detract from their original composition.

This CD is just fantastic. I agree the music is a little cheesy, but the words. The words. They stay with you and stay with you. "It is not death to die" "Come weary saints, hide away in the love of Jesus" They are truly fantastic. I rarely play a congregational Christian CD over and over. But this, I play over and over and over. Great, great work.

Great review, Shannon! Thanks for drawing attention to a CD that has been very meaningful to me this year. Our church has really enjoyed singing "It Is Not Death to Die" which we learned when our text took us to the theme of suffering.

Shannon,
Great review - I know for me, there is a sense of peace and comfort that comes over me from the first note of the first song as I've listened to this CD over and over.
