Default work on together?

Russ,

I was thinking that this project could possibly be more collaborative in nature. By that I mean, perhaps we can help each other write some tunes.

I have, in the past, used an online music collaboration site where you post yout thoughts and ideas. Users are then able to upload remixes, individual tracks that you request personally, etc...

If you think that'd be a cool way to extend this and make it more interactive, I'll post the URL, but I didn't want to do that at the moment as I wasn't sure if that would move away from the intent of this. However, I do think that more experienced songwriters could help beginners and inspire them, etc.

Default Let's collaborate

I would love to collaborate with someone, as painOdude suggested.

I have already come up with words, but I'm very weak on contemporary music writing. All my music comes across as traditional, because in the home I grew up in, listening to rock and roll music was not allowed.

So if anyone wants to work with me, I'll post my words.

Tom Kline

Sure, sounds great! If you'd like to collaborate, feel free to.

The overall goal is to submit your ideas and then get feedback. So ultimately we (who are participating) will all be collaborating to a degree.

But I think it's a great idea to open this up to those who would like to co-write as well.

Thanks for the input!

As I was reading 31, I sought the Lord for verses to jump out at me. There were several. I even found some commentary that made the verses sink in more deeply. This may have been a focus in other worship songs, but the first verse to jump out is verse 5, the verse Jesus spoke on the cross. Other verses to stand out were the ones that mentioned hands or arms. From there, this is what I wrote. I'm already aware of the redundancy, and lack of rhyme. This simply shows the direction I'm heading with the song. Help?

The hands that fed the hungry fed me
The hands that healed the sick healed me
The hands that made the lame walk strengthened me
The hands that made the blind see enlightened me
The hands that made the mute speak inspired me
The hands that were pierced saved me

You are my rock, and my fortress
For your name’s sake, guide me
I commit my ways into your hands
You are my God, and my salvation
For my protection, hide me
I commit my spirit into your hands

The hands that crafted carpentry crafted me
The hands that raised the dead redeemed me
The hands that turned tables accepted me
The hands that broke bread blessed me
The hands that held children held me
The hands that were pierced saved me
Dude, That's a great start! I love the idea of "The hands" in the verses.

Wondering if you could try that same concept but have every other line begin with that phrase.

The hands that fed the hungry fed me...
Filling my emptiness with ....

And so on. Instead of beginning every line with "The hands that..."

Let's do this as well. I'm going to add this to the OP:

If you want to sbumit a song go ahead and let us know in THIS THREAD but link to a separate thread specifically FOR YOUR SONG.

Label it: TWCSW Feb Name of Song

TWCSW = The Worship Community Songwriters

That way we can keep track of individual songs, and those who have committed to being a part of this assignment, can add feedback as well.

Default Lord, I Come

Here are the words I have written for this project. I am looking for a collaborator.

The words capture the essence of the entire psalm. The verses I drew from specifically are Psalm 31:1,2,4,16,19,20,22,23

LORD, I COME
words by Tom Kline

1.
O Lord, I come to you for protection
You are the One who rescues me
And when I follow your direction
You deliver me from the enemy

Chorus
Your goodness is so great!
Your love is never-failing
You store up great blessings
For those who honor you

2.
You hide me in your holy presence
You shield me from my enemy
So let your face shine on your servant
And in your love, come set me free

Bridge
Bend down and listen
Rescue me quickly
Be my rock of safety
A fortress from the enemy

Tag
Praise the Lord
Love the Lord
Praise the Lord
Love the Lord

FEEDBACK, PLEASE
