Default Can I get some feedback: Psalm 23

Hi from Down under. I was wondering if I could get some feedback on this song from some of the more experienced writers. Thanks in advance for your time.

Peace

Andrew

Beautiful, beautiful song, Andrew! The mix is clean, the guitar is perfect, your voice is very, very good.

The song is great as it stands for communion/quiet time/reflection, but might want to be a little bit faster for corporate worship. I think the only thing its missing is a full arrangement.

Outstanding!

Thanks for the kind words.

My intention for this recorded version was something to just sit in God's presence with and soak for a while. I've used it at a few different churches and yes, I generally play it a bit quicker in that environment. As for the arrangement, I wanted to keep it simple, but I am waiting for an opportunity to steal a string quartet from some where to build it more in the last half of the song.

love the song. guitar work is beautiful. i would use the song in a time of meditation and reflection at our church. i would probably play with speeding it up about half way with some strumming. would sound great with a Cajon and Cello! great writing. thanks for sharing.

This is going to sound odd and some Hi-fi style producers are going to faint but I think you need to actually add in some "wound string sliding" between more of the chord changes. If you just can't bring yourself to that you should remove it from the 2 chord changes that have it. It's just too sporadic. And oddly my vote is to add more, although you may want to EQ them a little darker.

Also I upped the speed to 1.4 and thought it was too fast but 1.2 was really enjoyable.

ETA: I need to add, I was going to comment on the length of the song, and that you miss a beat coming out of the "solo" then I realized my player was on repeat and I had actually heard the song 3 or 4 times without getting annoyed or even noticing. That is high praise, BTW.

When I saw the title of this thread, I thought, "Have I got a sound guy for you!"

Beautiful, absolutely. Those are some waters I would like to sit by, and a house to 'dwell' forever. May I share it with my church here in Oregon? We have corporate prayer on Fridays, and this would be nice to add to the playlist while we are praying. Bless you brother.

I for one, would appreciate some guitar notation for this song. I really do like it.

Default Hey Robert

Hi Robert, feel free to use it as you wish. I'll put together a lead sheet for you with all the chord voicings that I've used and basic finger picking patterns. I hope this song draws you that little bit closer to the King.

Peace

Andrew

Bless You brother Andrew. You could send it directly to my Email at divineinspiration@live.com I hope you don't mind, but I sent the mp3 to my Pastor, and to one of my dear brothers in my church. I would really like to see if we could include your song on our Friday prayer night.
P.S. The brother I mentioned that I sent it to is a my missionary friend Jon Dunagan, His link is at the bottom of my page. www.harvestminstry.org
