Default Intrp - Travis L. Boyd from Lawrenceville, Georgia

Good morning, friends. I've been a full-time Minister of Worship for 31 years, serving churches in Oklahoma, Texas, & Georgia. Before being called to the ministry, I was a public school band director for 4 years. I currently serve at First Baptist Church of Duluth, Georgia. Duluth is an Atlanta suburb, not far from where I live in Lawrenceville. I'm very thankful for my church family, and I've served here for almost four years. Before coming to FBC, Duluth, I'd served for 12 years at a church in NE Oklahoma. At our current church, I direct the Adult Choir, the Senior Adult Choir, (Golden Notes), the Orchestra, and S.W.A.T. (Student Worship Arts Team -- for youth). I also assist with Children's choir & do all of the worship planning. I love to lead God's people in worship, using a mix of contemporary & traditional music in congregational praise & leaning more toward contemporary. We were using praise teams of 3 people, but we've recently begun using a double praise team, with 6 people on the platform, plus the choir, orchestra and rhythm section. I've recently begun focusing on teaching about worship in rehearsals and even in short bites of information during our congregational worship, and I'm praying for God to ignite a fresh passion for Himself and for worshipping Him among our people.

I am also a composer, lyricist, arranger, & orchestrator, with choral anthems, songs, & orchestrations published by Shawnee Press (now w/ Hal Leonard), Lorenz Music, Choristers Guild, & Lifeway. I also have my own website. I had a backlog of music that hasn't yet been accepted for publication which was sitting in computer files. I wanted to make it available very affordably to give churches the opportunity to use my music in worship. My website has downloadable Choral Anthems, Vocal Solos, Orchestrations, & Congregational Praise music. You can find it at http://www.boydbrainmusic.com

My wife, Cindy, and I have been married for 36 years. We have 7 children. Our daughter is married & lives in Texas. We have 6 sons, ranging in age from 6 to 19, and all of them live at home. Our oldest son is a freshman in college, attending a nearby University. Then, we have one son in his first year of middle school, one in 3rd grade, one in a Moderate Autism 2nd grade class, & our twins in 1st grade. We have a busy & lively household and are very blessed.

My wife & I also have a music & worship blog. It has become another area of ministry for us and reached a lot of people that we would never have met on earth. Our posts & pages cover a variety of topics, but our main areas of focus are worship, ministry, music, life, family, & discipleship. The blog is found at http://www.boydbrainmusic.wordpress.com

I'll be the in-house minister at the office tomorrow, so I am off today. I'd planned to go to an awesome worship technology conference in Atlanta today. However, my oldest son was involved in a minor accident on Tuesday. I'll be spending most of today hunting down parts to fix his car. We're very thankful that no one was injured, so I am not complaining at all. It is a joy to still have our son needing a car to go to school.

My favorite chorus right now is "10,000 Reasons", but I love so many songs of worship. One of my favorite choral anthems is Heather Sorenson's "God of Heaven", & my favorite hymn is "Great is Thy Faithfulness". I love embracing the new songs that God is pouring out through His people and the great hymns as well.

My time is really full, but I read a lot and love to interact with others when I can. Much of what I've learned through 3 decades of worship ministry can be found on the posts in our blog. We also have a Boydbrain Music facebook page where there's more info, including links to the other sites I mentioned & my LinkedIn profile.

    Blessings to you,

    Travis

Welcome to TWC, Travis! Glad you found us. Jump right in when you can. We're a lively bunch and love to dialogue with other worshippers. In fact, many are from GA. :-) Blessings to you and your ministry.
