Mark, I just now saw your post. Thanks for taking time to share what you know. I was hoping that the producers could come up with building on just the basics. SO GLAD to hear it!!! I do hope that they are willing to work with me, though, so that I keep the integrity of how I originally heard the song. Meaning...if I meant it to be a ballad, that it doesn't somehow end up being a Christian rock piece! ;D Hahaha. I'm sure they would, though. Right? Yes, I would like to learn more. Please feel free to share whatever crosses your mind as the Lord leads. Thank you for taking the time!!!

Mike, I also just read your feedback. For some reason I wasn't alerted that I had responses to this thread on my email. I'm glad I checked in! Your detailed input here is very valuable to me! It seems you answered the question I just asked Mark above regarding keeping the integrity of my song. Your exhortation to be discerning about who to share my songs with is vital, as well. You gave me some things to think about...like getting into a real studio and hanging with engineers. I did some work at CFNI and I produce totally unprofessionally on logic, so I know some basics, but it's true that I have much, much to learn. I will pray that God will provide some friends who are in that groove. I know you're right about that.

The thing that got me thinking most was about the outline. I have so many songs, and they are written and completed. But, when thinking about an album... I guess I could use some help considering how to know how to piece my songs together. Do I start with a title of the album and choose songs? Or, pick the songs (do they all have to have the same musical style on an album?), and then later come up with the theme? I understand outlines, as I'm an English teacher. But, putting an album outline together is something I've never done. How do I know which songs to put on there? I mean, I could just choose my favorites, but that wouldn't mean that they all should be on that particular album. Is it more thematic? Or is the focus more musically synced? If you or anyone else has suggestions, I'm open to hear! Thank you so much for your time in writing above!!!

I think for me it's more about getting out of my own songwriting shell. Even as I put them on soundcloud, soundclick, facebook, etc. I do it without marketing, as I'm being "shy" about it. Because it IS new, and I am not planning to record to be the typical Christian artist. I want to record to give my music away when it's time to share the Gospel with others in evangelism. I like what Keith Green did. He never really wanted to sell his music. He wrote for the Lord and then used it as a part of his testimony and evangelical ministry. That is more my heart. I don't desire to tour with singing, etc. I just want the songs God has given me to be captured to be a blessing to others. To be honest, I'm more of a prayer house prophetic singer/songwriter. There are some songs however that I've written that I've been told need to be heard. We'll see what God does!

Yep, I sense it needs work, too. When I first heard it, I heard multiple singers. The reason for the key changes.

I guess the pre-chorus would be the verse on All things must fade...
That to me is one of the major hearts of this song...the idols of clay being finally surrendered...coming to that place to be able to finally say, "I Surrender My Life"

I'm not so sure about that sudden key change anymore between verse 1 and 2.

    Thanks for sharing your opinion!

This is a song I wrote about reconciliation, restoration, and communion. This is a rough vid demo of me playing and singing it. You will need to turn down the volume on your computer before you listen. Some parts are too loud. Thanks!

    Hey,

A few of us who have been involved in CCM have recently started a new website aimed at helping people like yourself. It's called christianmusicstudio.com The idea is that we take peoples ideas and record them at a higher quality than most people can whilst still trying to keep the costs down. We listen to your ideas/songs and then compose a track for your song and can either get a vocalist to perform it or leave it as a backing track for you to sing over. Check us out and see what you think
