I love that you are able to take the team to a farther level, I just have no idea why the "4-chord" version is a problem now or historically. Frankly there are more "ageless" songs from modern worship than there are in history's past. No negative or malcontent intended, but I just don't see it being true and I see more people worshiping in song than in years past.

Default Simple led to other opportunities...

I too have found the modern worship songs formulaic and boring...that is why I listen to other genres to get my musical "fill." I have also branched out in my responsibilities at the church. Worship was getting stale and easy, so I have been more involved in mentoring, discipleship, and leadership. I think the need within the church is for simple, catchy songs. Maybe talented artists will change that tide, but for now I serve the needs of our congregation by finding other ways to contribute besides music alone.

Back on topic: if your church, like most churches now, requires a more modern style of vocals you can either whine about it or just pull your britches up and learn how to use a computer, oops I mean sing without vibrato.
