I joined TWC a few years back and received encouragement during some rough times in my music ministry. I just realized today that I haven't been on the forums in about a year, so wanted to check in and say that after some very difficult situations in three different churches, my husband and I, who lead worship together, are thankful to be celebrating TWO YEARS in our current church here in east Texas.
When things fell apart in our last church, to our surprise, God led us to a different denomination. We are now serving on staff in a United Methodist church, where our leadership loves us and thinks we're doing a great job. I am SO grateful to be here, two years in, and there are no committees being formed to get rid of us, no elder meetings to discuss why we just don't fit here, no problem-people complaining regularly about the music we're doing... The leadership brought us here with the task of easing the church into a more contemporary blended style; so far we have formed a praise band, re-energized the choir, taught a number of new songs and are excited about what the future holds. Our church is growing by younger families and kids and our own family is thriving. Recently we bought a house, as well.
To all my friends here at TWC, thank you for praying for us and for being there to listen. I look forward to catching up with everyone.
Welcome back. Thanks for sharing your good report with us. So glad you are in a good place of service.

Good to hear.
This is a good example of knowing when things aren't working and finding a place where it does work.
I have been in a similar situation- not as a leader, but as a praise team contributor and congregant. I understand what it's like to have all the 'meetings' and backbiting and general drama. My family wound up in about 5 different churches before we found one where we felt like we belonged and were rowing the same direction they were. So I am excited for you- know exactly how you are feeling.
I'll echo Tom and Melanie - welcome back, and praise God for what He's doing!

Welcome to Texas!
That's awesome, y'all. Where in east Texas are you?

what? me worry?
I drive I-20 and I-30 all the time but haven't gone that far "inland" from the highway. So glad to see that you are experiencing our famous Texas hospitality though. And glad all that other stuff is a distant memory now.
Yay!
