    Default Worship Songs REMIXED -

I have been a DJ for 10 plus years mostly in Canada but have performed internationally as a "christian" dj and "secular" dj (i used quotations because to me, music is music - there are no boundaries - but we are not going to discuss that!)

I have been producing music for the last few years and have been working on Remixing Worship songs and releasing and album this year once I can clear all my licensing with EMI-CMG. I am interested in knowing what your thoughts are on this subject and style of music.

Yes I will admit, it has been done before, with Nitro Praise etc, but in my opinion, is has not been done to the standard of the music industry in todays world and with technology so advanced, I struggle to understand why this style of music in the "christian" market has been, in my opinion, ignored. Yes, their are guys out there like Andy Hunter who have succeed very well in the the dance/house music scene and there are more and more that pop up on youtube.

In the top40 world, when a DJ remixes a song for an artist, label or publishing company, official releases use the original Raw Vocal Stems, and in the "christian" marketing, remixer has to find a singer because for some reason, publishing companies will not release the master vocal track - very frustrating.
I am interested to see what thoughts people have about remixed worship songs, and also if there are any worship leaders out there that would want there music or a song remixed, let me know....

Youtube link of a worship song I have remixed for a local worship leader from London Ontario Canada...
    Cheers

ps...this is getting radio play across North America on "christian" radio

I agree that this feels a lot like a "lost genre" in the Christian world. But don't feel left out. Most music, from a purely musical and artistic standpoint, is left wanting. It feels like a McD's basic hamburger. It'll get the job done, but there is a LOT missing.

What I've seen of remixed worship songs tends to be the same...speed it up a little, add a thump that won't stop for 5 minutes and completely remove all dynamics (if there were any to begin with). I eagerly await some really tasteful renditions, and even some original stuff.

By the way, I really like the vid you posted. I like that I can feel the difference dynamically between the various stanzas. And it played really nicely through our church PA. Gotta love having the keys and showing up early on Sunday

Thanks. Glad you enjoyed the song and had a chance to play it through your Church PA.

Here is the link if you would like the song.

I have not heard it on any big PA rigs yet. I have only heard it in my studio headphones and also my studio Monitors.
And your right, there is always a lacking in many things.

Enjoy the song as much as you can. The original is also on iTunes on one of the CD's by Derrick Drover. If you or your worship leader/team is interested in taking an original and creating a remix of it, let me know.

    Cheers

It's not a really big genre to begin with. I for one don't really like the style, but I know some people that do. Could find a niche, but likely not on K-LOVE
