I'm looking for a song that ties into this theme: There is way that seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death.
My thoughts were Victory by the newsboys. A search came up with Godpleaser by Petra. Plus a bunch of really cheesy, terrible songs. Songselect has been no help, or I can't get it to figure out what I want.
Problem with those songs is it would be for an altar call at a retreat, so while both are lyrically good, neither fits the bill, and I haven't found a cover. I should say I need a recording, as the group that is going will not have a band.
Thematically--but not literally--I would think Keith Green's "Altar Call" fits the bill. In fact, if you searched on Altar Call songs, "Softly and Gently", etc--I would suspect that theme resonating in the lyrics, albeit in a veiled manner.
Perhaps you want to try the other side of your theme: There is a way that IS right, and it leads to eternal life.
If the goal of the altar call is repentance of making wrong choices, I don't have any ideas for you. But if the goal is to reject the way that is wrong and choose the way that is right, then you have lots of options. What you chose would be dependent on the musical style that you're working within.
