Central Passages
Desires, Resources, Opportunities, Peace.
Discovering my spiritual gifts. This was a frustrating study for me. As I study the scriptures and read what Dwayne has written for this lesson, I cannot conclusively identify anything that I can call my spiritual gift. I have talents and skills that I can channel for God's glory, but no one thing jumps out as my spiritual gift. This will require more study on my part.
My Daily Response
My giftedness that I identified, that is, my talents and skills, are both music related. One of the great joys of my life is to lead the people of my church in worship, but in the church where God has placed me, it is likely that I will only be asked to lead when the regular leader won't be there. And since I am sure God wants my wife and I at this church, it puts in question my calling and my gift.
My other area of giftedness is writing good, scriptural song lyrics. But my skill and resources for putting those words to music are minimal. So unless I have a collaborator to add music to my words, this gift, as well, is not being utilized.
Thus my frustration with today's study.
My Daily Meditation Our choir sang this song today, and it is what I meditated on and praised God with.
Holy is He, and great is His glory
Holy is He, and worthy of our praise.
I stand in His presence amazed
And crown Him with worship and praise!
Holy is He
Holy is He
Holy is He!
Holy, holy, holy!
Lord God, Almighty!
All Thy works shall praise Thy name
In earth and sky and sea!
Holy, holy, holy!
Merciful and mighty!
God in three Persons,
Blessed Trinity.

Hey Tom, thought I'd take a few minutes tonight and read thru some comments from a few of the days. (Hope y'all don't mind. I promise not to make it habit. I want you all to feel you can speak freely.)
I just had to comment to your post here. I don't know if humility, teachableness, and faithfulness could ever be considered "gifts" but God has used those qualities of yours to greatly encourage me--and many others I'm sure. Encouragement is a spiritual gift, and trust me friend, you've got that one. Thank you for using it so effectively!
