Default Looking for writer of lyrics

    Hello,

This is my first post but ive been lurking for awhile. I have been writing songs for awhile now and lyrics are always the part of a song that hangs me up to the point of having many unfinished songs. I play Guitar, Bass, Drums and im learning the piano and i can sing. Im looking for someone that might not be gifted in playing music but gifted in writing and for us to work together to create something. I want to write songs for worship and i have a want to write songs meant for a broader audience with more of a "through the eyes of a christian" lyric style and a more rockish feel. either respond here or email me at brentnowlan@hotmail.com if your interested.

Brent, I have written lyrics for a a number of songs and put them on the songwriter's forum on TWC. Most of them have been put to music by other members. Lyrics are my strength, and I would be glad to work with you on some songs.

If you want to see some of what I have written, below is a link to a database of all the songs put on TWC in 2010. Scroll down the page until you see my name, Tom Kline, and you can click on the title, and the entire thread will come up, with the lyrics at the top. You can also click on the soundcloud link and hear what has been written.

Well, I just tried to click on some songs from the database page, and they came up as "page not found." So I will put a link to a few of my lyrics.

These are the first ones I found. The first 2 don't have a collaborator, even though someone promised to write something. Take a look and let me know what you think.

It doesn't look like any of those links work from your first post. I will try to see if one of these lyrics fit with one of my songs when i get a chance.

I guess there are 2 ways to do a collaboration: Words can be written and music written for the words, or music can be written and words written to match.

Personally, I think it is easier to write music to fit words, but if you have music that needs words, I may be able to write some to fit, if you can get the music to me so I can hear it.

is there a few lyricists on this site like yourself Tom? i think i might try to use the "All Glory and Honor Belongs to You" lyrics to make something. my only complaint would be that there are alot of verses but i could make one into a bridge or something as i don't write hymns.

    Default Collab'ing

I have worked on a "collaboration" for a few of Tom's lyrics and we've fleshed together recordings. I am also a songwriter of my own lyrics/music. I'd have to say for me personally, writing lyrics first is often the approach I take. I then craft music to fit the lyrics. I had one song I put together start with just music at first and I began thinking about words that'd fit the "groove" of the song.

Honestly, reading the Word regularly, journaling your feelings/thoughts on what you read is a great tool for developing lyrical content.

I write a bit and always wanted to collaborate. Hit me up on facebook or email me @ joey@fbcmm.com and maybe we can do a little writing together. I'm with you, there a lot of "churchy songs" out there. I write worship for the church when I do, but I love to explore new mediums as well.
