I guess we will skip June and hopefully have a challenge for July.

July would be a good time to write Christmas carols.

I was half joking, but the more I think about it, this would be the perfect time to start songs for Christmas because to get the project started now might mean that by Christmas all of the ideas might be done to the point where a church could use them this year. My idea was just an idea so far.

If you want to start working on it and others I am in.

Not sure, but we can start with some ideas.

So the first thing that comes to mind from two different churches that I served on (both modern and contemporary), is that the worship leader tries to avoid Christmas carols as much as possible, but they end up playing them anyway after some arm twisting. They try to find "hip" versions of old traditional carols. Personally, I have nothing against the traditional carols. What could we write that would be useful and not rejected in a modern "relevant" church?

Hmmm... have to pray about that... and see if the Lord will give us some inspiration.
Something a bit differnt... the focus on Jesus but sing about a different aspect of Jesus that perhaps is not brought up in traditional carols.... I actually have a Christmas song (or two) that I started a couple of years ago but never finished... so i'm already looking forward to putting at least one of them in for collaboration. I believe the name of the one i have in mind I called "Humble King". I would have to pull it out and see if it would be good for collaboration... i think it would...

ahh... is that a fair and okay thing to do? to submit to a song challenge not a brand-new song, but one you started but never finished?

I don't see anything wrong with using something unfinished from the past. The challenge might be to finish it! Or maybe just to start it!
