TWCSW - February 2011 Songwriting Challenge

It's a new year! Time for more new songs!

This month I'd like you to focus your time and energy on writing songs based on:

1 Chronicles 16:7-36

You can loosely base it on any part of this passage (make sure you include your reference) in your post. Also, feel free to use any cross references that you might come across in your study, preparation and writing.

Guidelines:

• Base the meat of your song on the passage(s) provided, but feel free to use metaphors and imagery from other scripture that support your main idea.
• Your song can be of ANY variety, though I'd like to focus on writing songs for use in a corporate setting - so keep in mind singability, catchiness, hook, wordiness...
• Record your song by whatever means you have available to you. Some just sing directly into my laptop mic with a guitar, others do differently, but no fancy recording is necessary.
• Create a separate thread IN THIS FORUM (TWC SONGWRITING CHALLENGES 2011) for your song title it using this format: TWCSW MONTH NAME OF SONG
• Share your song thread URL (and appropriate links, lyrics, charts, etc) on this thread. PLEASE USE SOUNDCLOUD.COM TO SHARE YOUR MUSIC (If you don't mind).
• We'll ALL listen, offer feedback and help make this song usable.

A great option as well: Kompoz.com is a great site for collaboration. We have a TWC Songwriter's group there. If you'd like to post tracks for collaboration, that's where we do it! If you need help with instrumentation we have several members who are pitching in and adding full-band instrumentation for those members who don't have the capability.

Hi Russ,

I'm excited about the monthly song writing challenges! I just signed on to the site this month - and it turns out that the scripture for this month in I Chronicals - out of the 27 or 28 verses (can't remember exactly) that are in this challenge, I've already put 18 of those verses to music. These same verses are also in some of the Psalms.

I've tried to write something based on the scripture, but I can't seem to get the melodies out of my head - so, I've decided to take part of it and post it on the Kompos site to see if anyone wants to collaborate on it.

I really appreciate you all being here on this site!

I listened to the song on Kompoz. Very nice!

Just one thing. For the songwriting challenge, we try to keep all the threads consolidated so it's easier to track. So, do you mind creating a new thread with the title TWCSW "Declare His Glory"? You can provide the link in the new thread as well as the lyrics and chords.

Thank you. I will put the link in there. I didn't think it would kind of "qualify" for the song challenge since I already had put the scripture to music, but I'll put it on there. Thank you for your welcome and kindness.
