Last night at the healing mass, a couple of mashups came about during the free time.
Of these, the one that stood out the most was combining Matt Redman's Facedown w Chris Tomlin's I Will Rise. Very powerful juxtaposition there.
Not that anybody knows these next two songs (Goto iTunes, _pronto_), but I also juxtaposed Michael Pritzl's Invitation Fountain w John Michael Talbot's Without Guile. The latter plays quite well using the same strumming patterns of the former...
We're doing Blessed Be Your Name (pulling it out of the archives) with the chord structure and feel of Viva La Vida by Coldplay, going into Our God by Chris Tomlin. Our God really slows down, so it's not a perfect mashup, but it still works really well together.

Chris Tomlin's OUR GOD mashes up oh-so-nicely w Natalie Grant's YOUR GREAT NAME.

FTR, I play both of these in Gm, which means a guitar tuned down one full step, in Am. Am has a holy, solemn feel that Capo 5-Em does not have (not that Capo 5-Em can't be used effectively in other songs).

While we're at it, I discovered "DELIVERER" by Vicky Beeching just two days ago. I like it. I raise the key to Cm (Dm full step down), and mash that up with... what else... "MY DELIVERER" by the late Rich Mullins.
I had a couple of people at my church recommend Jeremy Riddle "Sweetly Broken" to me. First time I gave it a spin, all I could think of was "Yellow" by cold play. When I finally introduce this song I plan to use the electric riff from the intro to rock it up a bit...
You decide:
Riddle: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fyJuKHvoPGc
Coldplay: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1MwjX4dG72s&ob=av2e
i was to chicken to do it but this christmas i really wanted to do "angels we have heard on high" to "purple haze"...maybe next year....
A bunch of years ago we did The Eagles 'Peaceful easy Feeling' with Amazing Grace. Same rythym structure and tempo as the original.
Amazing Grace for the verses and the original Eagles chorus.
IIRC the only change was in the chorus... " 'cause I'm already standing on SOLID ground."
It pretty neat how it went together. Being a special 'seeker friendly' service it went over well.
Apparently it is a popular mash -up... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LC9qfGBkNKw
And Amazing Grace/House of the Rising Sun too i guess... well I never said we invented it...lol

Just mashed Steve Fee's "God Is Alive" and David Crowder's "God's Not Dead". Link below. Tempo at 143. You could go several different ways with this, but this is what sounded best in my head as I was working on it.
