There are a few new ones we are playing in the p&w band i lead:

"Eden" and "Safe" - Phil Wickham
"Your Name High" - Hillsong United
"Alive Again" and "Hold Us Together" - Matt Maher

these all have a very upbeat and modern feel that really seems to connect people.

Also, the theme song for our awakening retreat last fall was "Use Somebody" by Kings Of Leon. When you connect the lyrics with a spiritual/worship mind set it can be really powerful for some people. We are constantly trying to find songs that arnt by a "christian" or "praise and worship" band to play. Its a cool way to bridge our faith and the everyday world around us =)

We (my husband and I) are two years into our worship leading position at this church and we have brought lots of new music with us. Some of our church favorites are
Jesus Messiah - C.Tomlin
You Never Let Go - Matt Redman
Everlasting God - B.Brown

As of latley we are really enjoying
A Mighty Fortress is our God - Christy Nockels
Amazing God - B.Brown
All I Really Need to Know - B.Haralson

There are a couple cd's we seem to be tackling at the same time here. One is the new Freddy Rodriguez cd "Champions Live" and another cd, which the title escapes me, but, it's by Ricardo Sanchez. With our church being out in suburbia, we need to get our groove from somewhere...

One thing I've been learning lately is how much each church will vary in what songs really speak to the congregation. For us there are a couple that really seem to match the heartbeat of our church (which I am new to and still learning what that heartbeat is).

As It Is In Heaven by Matt Maher is a great upbeat song asking for God's Kingdom to come and His will to be done. Anything by Maher is super good.

We Won't Stay Silent by Tim Hughes is a really good missional/call for action/congregational declaration song.

Tree and Found Faithful both by Justin Rizzo of IHOP are more chill songs speaking of being rooted and grounded in God. You can easily flow in and out of these two songs as well.

Check 'em out!

ShanMan, 'How Great Is Your Faithfulness' is in 6/8, isn't it? (Message 17) Great song. I love it. Hope to introduce it at church soon.

Our newest one is 'We Shall Not Be Shaken' by Matt Redman from the same album.

Not necessarily a new song, but newish (last 5 years or so) is Mighty to Save. I think it is one of the best songs to come out of the worship genre in years.

If you have not heard Love Came Down by Brian Johnson yet, you must must must listen to both versions of it, both the slow acoustic one and the upbeat, full-band version.
