I am 27 and was asked a few months ago if i would be the worship leader at a church that friends of mine are starting in inner city York, PA. I said yes of course and am SUPER excited about what God is going to do. On the flip side i don't have a lot of experience. I mean i sing and play guitar and have done both for a long time. I played on a Worship team for a few years and have been leading at Bible Studies etc but have never been "the leader". We are still really small and meet on Friday nights in space we have rented from another local church. I attended Day 3 of the NWLC in Lancaster PA yesterday and was blown away.... it was awesome and I came away with tools and a confidence i didn't have before. We perform Michael W. Smith, Hillsong, Chris Tomlin, Casting Crowns and more. My favorite band is Casting Crowns, because the bassist and guitarist in that band are awesome, IMHO.

I'm a huge Jesus Culture/ Hillsong fan. I love the way the Chris Quilala leads with an electric rather than an acoustic guitar. I am interested in a set-up such as his. The closest I can get my rig to sound like his is on my Ibanez TS7 tubescreamer through my Peavy Bandit Trabstube 112 amp. the rest of my pedals are junk, so I don't use them much (beat up crybaby, DS-1, digitech R80). I'm also a broke 18 year old that is about to be in college this coming fall, so my budget will only get worse. Anyway, music is not my strong suit, so I am hoping to learn more about worship ministry...in hopes that in the long term I am preparing the way for a worship leader.
