Shalom all you Worship Pastors/Leaders out there
HELP! I need some advice here. What would you do if you are caught in a situation as I am right now where your Senior pastor demands that when you lead worship you merely sing in understanding and you are in NO WAY permitted to sing/worship in the Spirit. would you:-
1. Submit to authority and do what he wants and grieve the Holy Spirit or
2.Submit to the Word Of God and be led by the Holy Spirit to worship Him in spirit and in truth?
The Word Of God tells us to submit to authority and at the same time says that we are to worship Him in Spirit and in truth. Please shed some light here.............................

Hi neighbour (Malaysia is just beside Singapore :P)
I love Penang Laksa and Rojak!!! :P
I know Penang is having a revival now!!!! Am I right? :)
I would tink you have a situation here... you have had a revival of the Holy Spirit but not your senior pastor... regarding
1) you should submit to his authority. I dont know the reason why he don't allow it - most likely reason is he don't believe in it. In this case, you might wana "flow" with him, yet at the same time, pray for the Holy Spirit to touch him. Many people that I know with traditional backgrounds have breakthrough this way...
2) you shld submit to the word of God... and it says submit to your elders and leaders... however, remember God's way and though is higher than ours... so keep your heart open... cos u never know when a revival like Azousa street will hit Penang! :)
Your pastor might suddenly dance like king david

Hi,
I'd 100% submit to authority, and be open to your pastor teaching and guiding you ... I'm guessing by "singing in the spirit" you probably mean singing in unknown tongues, a "prayer language", etc.
Although that's something I love for personal worship, and I've seen it be powerful in corporate worship, I have to admit that just because it's "good" doesn't mean it's "orderly" for corporate worship. Paul said "I speak/sing in tongues more than ALL of you .. BUT in a public place (keep reading) ...
Paul gives crystal clear instructions in the New Testament that this is for private worship, not corporate worship ... I imagine this is how your Pastor feels as well.
I've heard people say "yeah, but when everybody does it, it's so good - it's so powerful" ...
And I used to say that ... but I realized that just because it makes you feel good doesn't mean it's the right thing ... sex may "feel good", but done at the wrong time, out of God's boundaries, it still may 'feel good', but it's completely wrong.
Just my $.02.

Always Submit to your leaders . David made that point clear in the , word . BTW . Dude worship in the Spirit is not something you can't turn off and on like light , its a lifestyle . Its who you are , it is you .

I was just saying how your point really zinged the point home in a really to-the-point way. (And suggesting that you should copyright the sex illustration.)

To everybody out there who gave me feedback to my pastor's disagreement in worshipping in the Spirit. Aiya! he's driving me bananas now cos he says "go back to it cos we got no power now!"

Shalom,
Thanks for dropping by! Uni? Still studying or habis? What course are U into?
As for me I am currently serving at Tabernacle Of worship, Penang as worship leader and intercessor. Did record a Christmas CD last year which is being sold via internal circulation and all proceeds of which go towards supporting the Street Ministry in which my husband, Ashley (classical guitar tutor) is serving. I am blessed with 2 arrows Cain (18) who servs as a drummer on my team & Cavin (11) who plays the guitar & violin. n right now is just being David the shepherd boy who just loves worshipping the Lord.

Still at uni... I'm doing postgraduate classes now. It's good to hear from you and very nice to hear about your family :) Wow well done on the CD too! I'm just starting to learn about writing songs and hoping God can use me in that way. Hey what's it like being a Christian in Malaysia? I only found Christ after coming to NZ so I never really experienced the spiritual climate in Malaysia.

Hmmm.....being a Christian in Malaysia is ok as long as you don't step on the toes of the Muslims; you may end up behind bars if caught evangelizing to them; there are underground churches here in the country. Many Christians here still live very complacent lives, I still believe God needs to do some shaking around here to awaken people. So much prophecy and talk on revival but sad to say many people are bz doing their own thing.
Hey! what do you know I am looking for a song writer to do somthing original for my next CD. who knows?????
Whats your e mail address i could forward you some of the songs for a listen..if you'd like to hear them.
