Advent Tuneage

So what are you folks knocking around for contemporary services with advent? We wrote an advent song that married our theme "The Hour Is Late" that we'll use every week until Christmas. Obviously the closer to Christmas we get the more we move towards Christmas stuff but we'd like to maintain the advent stuff for at least a couple weeks. There doesn't seem to be too many great advent songs that you can contemporize. The given, "O Come, O Come Emmanuel" of course. But I'm getting NO inspiration for an updated version of "Lift Up Your Heads, Ye Mighty Gates" or "People, Look East" and the like. What are you good folks using?

Oh, I started not to put this up because it is my rough of the song we've written and I mean ROUGH. It should also be faster too but I got too far along to go in and change that. It lags here and there.

There is probably only 4 hrs. put into getting this recorded so that our musicians can get a feel for the song enough to rehearse it and craft it. Therefore, a disclaimer: there is NO mix, NO work on phrasing, NO work to balance and all the other stuff that I would ordinarily put time into for this. But it had to be done and done quick. DO NOT be critical of that stuff. LOL And another thing: I need another tune using the word "come". I've got a block incorporating O Come, O Come Emmanuel and Come Thou Long Expected Jesus and would like to round it out with a third one. Hmmm...???

The new Hillsong "Born Is The King" album has a few that we're using. Chris Tomlin's Christmas album has a few that we've used in the past. MercyMe's Christmas album has several. We've also used Lincoln Brewsters "Shout for Joy" as a Christmas song. Also, we're using Leeland's "All Over The Earth" this year.

For another song with "Come", try "Creator of the Stars of Night"--High Street Hymns (http://www.highstreethymns.com)contemporized it in an awesome way with a chorus. They have a lot of other awesome Advent music two--a CD from a couple of years ago and a new EP.
