I think that at least 30 or more percent of vocal worship leadership is visual (energy, postures that reflect content of the song, etc.). Brent just did a great talk on it to our teams (get it as a free mp3 at http://www.worshiptrench.com/?p=135 ) and I was wondering what else you guys and gals do to work on this, or do you?

We really stress the whole "leading by example" concept with our "up front" vocals. Not to be overly dramatic or to appear to be faking it, but to just look like you enjoy doing what you're doing. If for some reason they can't do that then maybe (as stated in another topic) it's not really their area of service to the body.

We really stress that what they do is important for the kingdom and if their countenances don't reflect a worshipful joy/appreciation then it may not convey to others that worship CAN BE or maybe SHOULD BE a time of relational connection with God and with others.

Don't know how to "back it up" Biblically other than using the old standbys like a merry heart is like a medicine, and praise is "becoming" to the righteous, etc etc...

It just makes plain ol' common sense for those who are upfront to enjoy what they do. (and look like it too).

I liked what brent pointed out about is the posture only subjective for us (how i feel) or as leaders in service #4 when we are tired, if we objectively posture the content of the song, are we authentic and still leading? Good thought that I had never considered....

I downloaded the word doc and plan to go over it with our team in our "group" time at the beginning of rehearsal this week.

Hey,
Thanks for the resource, I'm definitely going to check that out. Will likely make this a "required listen" for our team!
