Wow! There is just too much good stuff in these verses! It was hard to pick out what not to use.

This is a words-only submission. Collaborators?! Have at it. And everyone else, give me your feedback.

My inspiration came mostly from I Chronicles 16:8-12, 23-25, and 29.

Sing To the LORD
Words ©2011 by Tom Kline

v1
We give thanks to you, O God
And we call upon your name
As we tell all the world of your goodness.
We will sing to you, O God
We sing praises to your name
As we tell of all that you have done.

Cho.1
So sing to the Lord all his people!
Sing to the Lord all the earth
Declare his glory to all nations
Share his love with everyone
Share his love with everyone

v2
We give glory to your name
You are holy, you are Lord
We rejoice with everyone who seeks you.
We remember what you've done
How you kept your promises
You have never forsaken your children

Cho.2
So sing to the Lord all his people!
Sing to the Lord, all the earth
Declare his glory to all nations
Share his love with everyone
For the Lord is good
He is worthy of our praise
And more awesome than any other
He's more awesome than any other

Bridge (X2)
Bring your offering
and come before him
Worship the Lord in his splendor
The splendor of his holiness

Overall, I would say it reflects the passage and brings it into pretty accessible terminology. The line I like best is "Share His love with everyone" because it brings out a horizontal focus that you also have elsewhere in the lyrics.

Having 'forsaken' in verse two constrains the choices a little I think, but it still seems pretty easy to work this into into a melody.

Hi Tom,

Nice writing and selection. I thought of trying to put your music to your words, but I get stuck with my own tune in my head :) Maybe someone else will try.

I've heard some beautiful stuff on soundcloud by Han's Paddington and easily your lyrics could be sung to his music. It would be more of an ambient kind of sound...very peacful and beautiful. :)

Blessings...c

Thanks, Mark. Maybe it can be revised a little:

"You will never forsake your children."

That takes one syllable out of it so it more closely matches the beat of the last line of v.1.

As usual, a great job on the lyrics. I love the chorus, how it urges people to praise his name! I also like how Ch. 1 and Ch.2 are different. I usually fall into the routine of same lyrics for the chorus.

This is the first month that I've missed a challenge! :( I had something, but didn't finish it. So I think I'll try to get some music together with your lyrics. I will post when I have something...it might be a week or two, but I'll get back to you. Blessings!

PS do you want a more upbeat, major key sound or an ambient, peaceful sound like Carol suggested? Let me know. Have a great day.

Kim, to me this has a very upbeat feel. That said, do it however you feel led by God to do it.
