Hey Guys,
Last year, this wonderful church was doing beautifully financially. They had just built a youth building, and had already paid 10k down on the loan needed to build the building. They Looked at the state of the church, a single pastor staffed church, and decided to go multi-staff and hire my position, Associate Pastor of Worship, or Worship Pastor for short. They had guest leadership and volunteers leading worship and planning the services and they just stunk, so they went to hire my position.
They hired me, and my wife and I knew we were taking a chance with such a small church with such a small budget. But after candidating for the job, and meeting the people, we fell in love with this church, so we decided to roll the dice.
Fast forward 10 months. 30-40% of our congregation works construction or other general labor (painting, etc) and in this rural area, they have not had much work. Giving has been down. Giving has been down for a long time. We have not had a hit in attendance, in fact this last sunday we had 4 new families, which is huge for a rural church. But as the year came around, we looked at the budget, noticed that we were behind in paying the loan on the youth building, also noted the fact that in 10 months I have gotten NO benefits as a full time staff person. (I dont even think its legal to have me full time salary and no benefits....) and my wife and I want to start a family, and as such we need insurance, which the church cant pay for.
I love this church, the senior pastor, my worship team, the congregation, but they can now no longer afford to pay my salary. After crunching the numbers with our finance lady, if giving doesnt TRIPLE, they can only afford to pay my salary another 2 weeks, and then it will either be my salary or the church power bill.
So, I need a job. Right now I am located in Evans, Georgia, and I am going to stay here another 2 months or so. If I dont find a job within 2 months, I have no choice but to pack up my family and move to California to live in my parents basement. Thats a really sad place to be. My wife does work but she only works retail, minimum wage, her paychecks were paying our Verizon phone bill and that was about it, so we cant live off what she makes.
I have updated my resume and can send it to anyone if they know of any open positions... I am willing to relocate anywhere. So if you know of a job thats open as a Worship leader/director/pastor, please let me know. Also, I am ordained, just in case thats a requirement.
But please, please pray for us.
