Greetings. It's been awhile since I've been on here. If you would, please pray for my sister-in-law. She has been in Guatemala 27 years as a missionary with YWAM. On Wednesday she was in a terrible accident en route to a small village for a medical outreach. The truck she was driving went off the road in heavy rain, and she went into a 1000' ravine. They only went about 100 feet, but one passenger was killed. Another was thrown from the vehicle and made it to the top to get help.

My sis-in-law has sustained pretty extensive injuries, including a detached retina, collapsed lung, broken vertebrae, possible spleen damage, broken leg in a couple of places, and will probably lose a kidney. Those are just the major things. They took her to the closest hospital, where they didn't even have an X-ray machine. The next day she was flown into Guatemala City, then transferred to another hospital, where she is in ICU.

The funeral for the woman who died was today. I'm not sure about the other woman, but I don't think her injuries were very severe. My in-laws are flying down there on Sunday. There's no telling how long they will have to be there.

On top of all this, Guatemalan law calls for the arrest of anyone involved in a serious accident, such as this, so there's a police officer on guard outside her hospital room. Hopefully, it is just a formality, and the legal side of it can be ironed out quickly.

Please pray for physical healing, and for God's direction for the future. Things are chaotic still at this point. We are thankful that she is still alive, and that her condition is stabilizing.

On another note, she was a music major in college. As gifted a musician as any I've ever met. After college, she hooked up with YWAM and returned to the States briefly to return to school and become a physician's assistant. She has sacrificed her passion for music, and God has given her an even greater passion for the work there in Guatemala. I can't imagine giving up music, especially considering the massive amount of talent she possesses. We love her dearly, and want to see God continue to move mightily through her.

Thanks, y'all.
