I thought I'd share a few more 'new worship artist' discoveries...most of these I've stumbled across on myspace...
1st - Blake Quimby (http://www.myspace.com/blakequimbymusic): what a beautiful voice, and excellent, lyrically deep, and easily sung corporate songs. The other refreshing thing: he just doesn't 'look' like someone who's pursuing the 'I'm a cool worship leader thing' - he just looks like, well, himself...in fact, I was sorta surprised by the pictures: doesn't match the voice at all.
2nd, a local of sorts (she's from Jacksonville): Kelanie Gloeckler (http://www.myspace.com/kelaniegloeckler)
She's got connections to the whole "Morningstar" movement, so she may not be some of your's cup-o-tea, but she writes some incredibly creative and catchy worship material...I imagine these would be really useful for a charismatic, contemporary youth setting. She's got a new c.d. coming out - my wife & I love her first.
I think I've already mentioned this guy, but he's the co-writer of 'Friend of God', and is one of the greatest things I've heard in AGES...
The Michael Gungor Band (http://www.myspace.com/michaelgungor) Can anyone say "The next David Crowder"?
And though he's not really that 'new', in case any of your missed him...
Phil Wickham (http://www.myspace.com/philwickham) : As I mentioned on another thread, those Wickhams are a rediculously creative & talented bunch. Pick a song - any song - not necessarily very useful in a corporate setting, unless ya'll are 'emergent', but absolutely beautiful never-the-less. Stylistically you can tell he's friends with Jason Morant.
Anyway, that's my update for now...there's plenty more where I found those...I'm sure I'll add a few more to the list next week.
blessings!
