Hey,
I figured while I had my nerve up I would post another song....here is the youtube link....

YouTube - Surround Me.MP4 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0yRUqzdjcnQ)

Surround Me

V1
The road that I must travel, this road is unknown
In need of some direction, Can't follow on my own
So easily distracted, Are there signs along the way?
I'm tired of running the wrong road, On my knees I pray

Chorus
Father please surround me
Take my hand....tenderly
turn me around be a lamp at my feet
Guide me on this journey
Father please surround me

V2
Where this road will take me, Only You know for sure
I see the mountains ahead now, So many valleys to endure
This road is never ending, And I'm feelin' miles away
I'm tired of running the wrong road, Hear these words I pray

Chorus

Bridge
The road is clear for many, their path so bright
My road seems full of shadows, can you bring me to the light?
I know the road you've given, is one, made for me
As I run this road each day Lord, I just want to believe

Chorus

Thanks for taking a listen!!

Lisa D :)

I can certainly relate to the words of the song. Pretty much tells the story of my life.

My only critique is that the chorus seems a little chopped up. The move from "turn me around, be a lamp at my feet" and "Guide me on this journey".
I'm not sure if it is the timing or the chords or the notes. So I'm not much help, am I?
Just my thought.

Thanks for sharing.

I like the driving 3/4 beat in this one. It goes nicely with the lyrical imagery about travelling a road. The lyrics are very personal, which seems to be the dominant theme in many worship songs today.

Is this lyric meant to be a question? I did not quite understand it:

I know the road you've given, is one, made for me

One thing I try to do sometimes is to substitute statements of what God has done for pleas for what we want him to do. Things like "You will surround me" and "You have promised to never leave my side", etc. Personally, I don't like to feel in a worship song that I am in a position to tell God what to do. He has promised to do what I need - I just need to lay hold of that. That is just a 'hot button' of mine that I have become sensitive to in songs, although it does seem rather common so maybe am out on a limb with that one!

Hey Mark,
I guess for me the song was kind of rooted in times in my life that I felt like I was going off course....It is always my prayer that God surrounds me with his comfort and love. I often envision God's arms around me, holding me up during difficult times. I guess the road kind of symbolized that for me. I know the road that God has me travel is one that is made for me, I just have to believe that he is leading the way and will guide me through any pitfalls I may have.

I'm hoping that I'm not alone when I say that I do question God sometimes, but I feel like that makes my faith stronger. It is when I am confused and can't see my way out of something, that I rely on the fact that God is always there and will always be there for me, no matter what. God is good all the time....even if my life is not good all the time....

Anyway, I guess maybe the lyrics poured out of something along those lines. Thanks for taking a listen! :)
