Hey yall, it's been a while since I've put anything up here, but thought I'd come and share something with you and get your feedback on it. It's a hymn-like song that I finally finished recently.

I started writing the song after my wife had a miscarriage and we were dealing with the grief of losing our baby. It's a summary of the places I've found comfort from Jesus' Hands.

Here's a link to a rough recording of the song:
Jesus’ Hands (Hymn for the Broken) | David Lindner Music (http://davidlindnermusic.com/2010/06/17/jesus-hands-hymn-for-the-broken/)

Lyrics:
Life has left you on your knees
weakened from the weight of doubt
scarred with grace to bring you peace
Jesus’ hand is reaching out

Seeking rescue from the waves
guilt and shame from shore to shore
powerful and strong to save
Jesus’ hand can calm your storm

Mountains fall, the earth gives way, the sun withholds its light
But the hands of Jesus, full of comfort, tightly cling to mine
My Shepherd leads me by still waters, my cup overflows
He walks me down to restoration, trusting Him I go.

Weak, your flesh, it wastes away
trying you with every breath
don’t lose heart, for in His grace
Jesus’ hand will give you rest

Dark and stormy is the day
filled with grief that death unfurled
Man of sorrows, Jesus came
His hands overcame the world

Mountains fall, the earth gives way, the sun withholds its light
But the hands of Jesus, full of comfort, tightly cling to mine
My Shepherd leads me by still waters, my cup overflows
He walks me down to restoration, trusting Him I go.

When you breathe your final breath
Your journey through this life is done
Then the one who conquered death
Jesus’ hand will lead you home

Jesus’ hand will lead you home

David, great song. I like how you intertwine Jesus' life and death with the 23rd Psalm.
The melody on the chorus is a bit tricky, but it follows a pattern, so it should be fairly easy to learn.

Thank you for taking what God taught you through your sorrow and sharing it in this way.

I really like this! I especially appreciate the lyrics. The word pictures you use and the clever way you manipulate the phrases make for an interesting song. I also found myself singing along with an alto part...it's definitely a song that people would want to sing. Very soothing, comforting.
