Hey Gang,

This isn't really part of the "songwriter" assignments, but I tapped down into the old writing wells and have started my first song in 4+ years. I've enjoyed some collaboration from Mandy Thompson (http://www.mandythompson.com) as well ... I don't have audio for ya yet .. hope to have something soon.

Working Title: "You Save"
Words and Music by Fred McKinnon and Mandy Thompson
©2010, HPP Publishing Company

Verse 1:
Darkness and famine, trials, temptations
Sorrow and anger, filled with frustration
Where, O Where are You God?

I feel a million miles away, yet I know you are near
Are you listening to me? Do you even hear?
Where, O Where are you God?

Chorus:

Where, O Where does my help come from?
I cry out into the night .....

Verse 2:
Lusts of the flesh and the greed in my heart
Selfish desire to be set apart
Where, O, Where are You God?

Have my sins hidden me for all eternity
from your gaze, O God? Will you still help me?
Where, O Where are You God?

Chorus:
Where, O where does my help come from?
I cry out into the night? (repeat)

--------------------
Bridge/Lift Instrumental (Psalm 121 read)

Your arm is not too short to save
Your reach goes deeper than the grave
When I am crying to You
You save! You save! (repeat)

My help comes from the Lord above
The Maker of the Heavn' and earth
Your watching over me and run
To save! To save!

To Save ...... To Save ....
You Save ..... You Save ....

thanks, guys ... it's in Am ... very tense, and the verse/melody is pretty busy ... the arrangement I have in my head is fairly epic (yeah, I know that word is overused), but 3-4 guitars, some orchestral stuff ... I doubt this tune is one for the Top CCLI charts, haha ... would leave people in their seats going ... umm ... ok ... haha

These words really hit at where many Christians live, myself included all too often.

I would like to see more words about God's desire to free us from that place.
The words remind me of II Chronicles 7:14. The answer to the situation described in your verses is found in humility, prayer, seeking God, and repentance.

My sermon for today.

Can't wait to hear it.

Great lyrics. Can't wait to hear the audio!

I've been more in this vein with my writing lately...not necessarily a happy clappy Sunday morning song, but real and honest. The reality is that I think we'd be lying if we said we didn't feel like this occasionally. But I love that the bridge offers the answer to the questions posed throughout the song. Very Psalms-esque.
