I head up the expressive worship at my church. We use flags, dance, and sign language. Those on my team have a heart for God and love to worship Him. That is the main requirement. None of us have one bit of dance training. I actually come from a Mennonite background where dancing was considered a sin. Through studying this subject I have come to fully understand that God wants us to dance! No where in the bible does it say we should NOT dance. Modesty is definately key and something I insist on. About 7 years ago God lead us to a Pentacostal church. I was new to expressing my love for God and at the time was barely even comfortable lifting my hands. God lead me deeper and I'm amazed at what He has done. Still blows me away that I lead this group. God often picks the most unlikely one! My team members worship - not perform. Since none of us have any training - we rely on the Holy Spirit to choreograph our moves. I also love to make worship flags - however just like dance - I have no training here either. lol Some of my flags may look a little rough - but I don't think the Lord minds.

Hey Pam, glad to hear that you found a way to use stuff you love to express your worship. I think that's absolutely great. Welcome, welcome, welcome. BTW, I was in Niagra Falls (on the Canada side) last winter. I literally had mist from the falls freeze to my face...not a pleasant experience. Still, it was beautiful.

Pam -

Welcome! I'd love to hear more on the various forms of expressive worship - I've seen it, and even participated in various forms ... I especially appreciate it when teaching and biblical reference is given to support it ... it can be a beautiful thing! So glad you are here with us. Feel free to reply to existing threads, create your own ... or just lurk around if you want!

Thanks for the warm welcome! I'm happy to talk about expressive worship. I am amazed at how many churches have never heard of this. I am starting to think (and definately pray!) about the possibility of starting up some type of one day workshop in my church about this - and inviting all the churches in the area. Have to discuss this with my pastor first of course. There are a great deal of biblical references to it.
Blessings!
Pam
