Hey, new to this, but basicaly, I have been a drummer at Calvary Chapel Franklin Park, and now at Calvary in Oro Valley. I love worship music, and like a drummer, I insist on the music being played on-time, it's one of my pet peaves. I was a guitar player before this, so I always look to strums on the guitar, when the music is off, or it's not quite where it should be. Sometimes i'm not the most popular person, but I insist on giving GOD our best, as long as you have practiced, listen to the music, and showed up to practice on time, I'm ok with what ever happens on Sunday morning. I will give it up to the Lord on that morning, but only after we have put in our best effort for Him. I'm not real tolerant if musicians just show up, we all must have commitment, and do our best, not just have an anything goes attitude. Tom Kraeuter, who wrote a few books on this, has an outline for his church, and the worship ministry, what should be the qulifications. The list is very good, and should be used in selecting the teamm members at your church, he lists qualifications first;
1. Commitment
2. Spiritual maturaty
3. musical expertise
4. Time commitment
5. Support of family
6. Abilit y to flow with the team
Music Team Guidelines
1. Probationary period
2. Weekly practice sessions
3. Other functions
4. Commitment to being spiritualy prepared to minister
5. Commitment to musical expertise
6. Commitment to growing spiritualy
7. Commitment to "flowing" with the team
This has been some great teaching, you can go on www.training-resources.org and get more info.
well that is all for today, as you can see i have a great passion for trying our best, in the bible it speaks of skilled musicians, that to me means practiced and ready,
blessings
