Hi, I'm Mike (Doc) Erwin. I'm Music Director: Choir Director, Praise Band Leader. I play piano, synth, LH bass, trumpet and trombone. My position at the church is part time. I also teach piano and brass at church and at a local studio. I have 30 students. Lessons are 30 minutes. I studied music at the University of Alabama 1970-1973 and Gadsden State Jr. College 1968-1969. I play occasionally at local restuarants and private country clubs. I've played professionally for almost 30 years, jazz, rock and blues. Now I concentrate my time serving our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Several times a year I put together a brass choir to play for special events. I usually play trombone or conduct. I've been at Central Baptist of Jupiter, Fl for 7 years. Before that I was at Christ Fellowship for 3 years as keyboardist and trombonist. Before that, I was at Palm Beach Community Church as music director for 3 years. May God Bless Our Efforts, In Christ, "Doc"

Hey Doc!
Would love to hear some of the brass stuff - one of my degrees was in Theory/Comp and I especially loved writing horn parts .. I'd take 3 trumpets and 2 trombones, and write jazz chords w/ the RH piano triad in the 3 trumpets, and LH (usually the 3rd and flatted 7th, or other alterations) in the bones ... with the bass guitar player hitting the true bass note ... it was a groovin' sound, and I loved hearing those licks!

Hi, I have a passion for writing brass parts for the praise band. When I first started arranging for this church the parts were more elementary to intermediate. I find it challenging to keep it simple and sound good. As the brass progressed I used the charts from praisecharts.com. I usually re-arranged them to fit our band. We have a small church 70-120 on Sunday AM. Our brass consisted of 2 trumpets, tenor sax and trombone; good combination. At this time we have lost our brass section due to students graduating and people moving. I'm praying for God's blessings in this area. I have focused on improving our vocal team. May all that we do bring glory and honor to Him. "Doc"
