This is actually the position that I am currently working in right now! It's an awesome job. Without going into a lot of details, my wife and I are moving on to a new season in life, and leaving the job, church, area in great standing (no conflict).

House of Joy is located in South Georgia, just 15 miles North of the Florida line. We have an opening for a full time music and media staff person. The person does not necessarily have to do media; however, they must have a strong secondary gifting/talent to bring to the table.

House of Joy is a dynamic young church plant. We've gone from 5 to over 500 in 5 years (with regular attendance around 300). Have seen hundreds of individuals make commitments to Jesus. We've just purchased land and are planning to build in the next two years. This church is off the chart, down to earth, relevant, creative, and growing strong. Friends don't let friends pass up an opportunity to do ministry at a place like this!

My Personal Tips:

This position is a fast paced high energy position. Musically, you'd need to be comfortable rocking out very soulful rock music. Typical sunday setlists include songs from Israel Houghton, Lincoln Brewster, Hillsong United, Martha Munizzi, etc.

It's a great blend of soulful gospel infused and modern rock.

We're looking for someone youthful and preferably in the 20 something range (mid 20s to late 20s even better).

Music training a plus. Musical skill on ALL band instruments a plus. Leadership in music a must. Vocal skill a plus not necessary as long as you can administrate and coordinate our vocal leaders and keep the band rocking.

Job Expectations:

Music/Media Coordinator will be responsible for overseeing the practices and performances of the house band, the recruiting and scheduling of audio and video technicians, and the designing of any media of House of Joy, including
but not limited to House of Joy’s website, bulletins, mailers, slides, etc…

All staff at House of Joy are expected to be gifted appropriately for that ministry leadership, have a passion for their area of leadership, and support the vision and mission of House of Joy. The supporting of House of Joy’s mission and vision must not only be demonstrated verbally but by living it out through completing Starting Point, attending a JOY group, reaching out to the community, tithing regularly, and living a life above reproach ( Acts 2, Matthew 28:19-20; 22:37-40, Malachi 3:10,1Timothy 3)

Expectations at a glance:

Daily:

Time with God

Weekly:

Administrate the house band practices and live performances
Administrate presentations and other media for Sunday morning
Meet with the Lead Pastor
Update and oversee House of Joy’s website
Attend both Sunday morning gatherings

Monthly:

Communicate with lead pastor about themes and creativity of messages
Design weekly bulletin cover supporting the message series’ theme
Communicate with house band members
Incorporate new songs
Recruit and train house band, audio, and video technicians
Attend Board/Leadership Communion every 2nd Sunday
Recognize and appreciate those who serve under you

Yearly:

Develop a tentative plan for the year
Design mailers when needed
Provide house band, media, audio/video technicians with updated training events

A big portion of time fulfilling the media role of this position is creating and designing the graphics for each message series to be used in the Sunday presentation, website, e-newsletter, bulletin, etc.

If you are not strong and passionate about the graphic design role we would look to your personal strengths and passions for the secondary role you would play.

Ahh...if only I were twenty years younger!

Okay...and three thousand miles closer!
