Hey Gang,
We've just started a 4-week series on FEAR called "Break Free". There are as many as 365+ Scriptural commands for us to "fear not" - one for each day of the year. (so I've heard)

I'd like input on some music we can use during this series - specifically, songs dealing with fear, courage, trust, Scripture-songs for fear, etc.

Can be good congregation-friendly songs, or special-music performance type songs ...

C'mon and let me hear what you think!
Fred

The quite-obvious "Voice of Truth" springs immediately to mind. I'll edit in more later as I think of them.

Probably wouldn't fly at your church but...Break Free from Hillsong United.

Stephen, yeah, I'd already thought about "Break Free" - def. too edgy for the demographic we have here ... I'd love to do it, though!

"You Never Let Go" (Redman)
"Fearless" (DCTalk)

A few off the top of my head.

Just found a way cool, country/Applachian-sounding tune by Wynonna Judd called "Rescue Me" that would be super cool to do - hammered dulcimer, cello, accordian ... I've got the singers to pull that off this week, too - keep'em coming.

How bout this one?

Matt Redman - You Never Let Go
From the album Passion 06: Everything Glorious

Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death
Your perfect love is casting out fear
And even when I’m caught in the middle of the storms of this life
I won’t turn back
I know You are near

And I will fear no evil
For my God is with me
And if my God is with me
Whom then shall I fear?
Whom then shall I fear?

Chorus:
Oh no, You never let go
Through the calm and through the storm
Oh no, You never let go
In every high and every low
Oh no, You never let go
Lord, You never let go of me

And I can see a light that is coming for the heart that holds on
A glorious light beyond all compare
And there will be an end to these troubles
But until that day comes
We’ll live to know You here on the earth

Chorus:

Yes, I can see a light that is coming for the heart that holds on
And there will be an end to these troubles
But until that day comes
Still I will praise You, still I will praise You

Chorus: (2x’s)

Sorry a little late on that post, has anyone mentioned Darrell Evans "Whom Shall I Fear"?

I will seek You Lord
While I am in my youth.
I will serve You Lord,
And I'll proclaim Your truth.
For You've searched and found me
While I was far away.
And in my troubled times
You've always kept me safe.

The Lord is my Light
and my Salvation
Whom Shall I Fear?
Whom Shall I Fear?
The Lord is the stronghold of my life
Whom Shall I Fear?
Whom Shall I Fear?

You could always rock some Carman. Fear Not My Child. Okay, okay, I'm kidding. Held might be a good one, though.
