Praise and worship brings incredible joy to God. :) As we lift our praise and worship up to the Lord, His Presence seems to fill us. It is actually there all the time because we are believers filled with His Holy Spirit. But there tends to be a powerful recognizing of Him and His Presence in our lives. We can sense the pleasure of God just as you sense a friend’s pleasure when you give a gift. In our relationship with God there is communication between us and God. Worship tends to be the most intimate of all communicating.
We often come to worship hungry, needing to “feel” God and often, He graciously responds. Yet we can slip into a place of rushing from one experience to the next hoping “God will come!” and feeling despondent if we don’t sense His Presence to the degree we hope for. :( Our life becomes a series of 50 yard dashes or at best, quarter mile runs.
The Christian life however, is a marathon. All Biblical laws are in effect just as the law of gravity keeps working day after day. We reap what we sow. :) We see our prayers answered eventually and our lack of prayer bringing results as well. Our time spend in the Word bears fruit as we build our house on the rock rather than the sand. Committing Scripture to memory actually does help us to overcome temptation and conversely, lack of memorization leaves us more prone to “blow it.”
A wise disicple is always running; always training. :) God often pours out grace in abundance in worship times, but our spiritual disciplines mean the difference between what is and what could be.
