I was re-reading in Matt Redman's "Heart of Worship Files" this past week (great book by the way...if you haven't read it...read it) and I was really struck by a comment in the book, basically a challenge, asking how many songs we sing about how great God is, as opposed to the number we sing about what He has done for us? How often do we worship God JUST for who He is, and leave us out of it. Probably not nearly enough. It was out of that thought, that I wrote this.
"Great and Mighty"
We behold the works of His hands
All of Nature at His command
Who are we, that He could love as He does
Oh God, that is why we sing
Great and Mighty is He, Great and Mighty is He
We lift up our hands and we sing His praises
Great and Mighty is He
Let heaven and nature sing
of the Glory of our King
The mountains tremble, the nations rejoice
Oh God, that is why we sing
Great and Mighty is He, Great and Mighty is He
We lift up our hands and we sing His praises
Great and Mighty is He
You sent down Your Son
A perfect sacrifice, Your kingdom come
Lord you are good and your mercies endure forever
That is why we sing
Great and Mighty is He, Great and Mighty is He
We lift up our hands and we sing His praises
Great and Mighty is He
Great and Mighty, is He
Worthy of honor, is He
Great and Mighty, Great and Mighty
Is He
Critique away, my friends!
