Hey Everyone,
I'm intentionally posting this in the "Random Fellowship and Babbling" thread, as it's not necessarily related to our worship leadership ... however, I've just watched the inauguration, and at this point, we have a new President of the United States.
Regardless of your political views, or how you voted ... it's our duty to pray for our leaders, and to lead others to do the same.
Thoughts?

As the father of a one year old, whose entire life will be affected for good or bad by the new administration, I'll be praying more for this president than any others I've lived under in the past.

My greatest fear is that God has given us the political "leaders" (on both sides) that we deserve for turning away from Him...

Yes, I agree we need to pray. My heart is crying out especially for the Supreme Court and unborn babies. May the Lord have mercy on the USA!
My prayer is that:
OUr nation and its leaders would repent, believe and follow Jesus!:)
President Obama would draw closer to the Lord!
President Obama would be a godly disciple of Jesus Christ!
President Obama would be kept safe and keep our nation safe!
Our nation would have an economy based on hard work, saving, and delayed gratification!
Unborn babies would live!:)
No judicial activists put on the Supreme Court!:)
No more bailouts, except for the BIGGEST bailout in history.....Jesus' death and resurrection!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:)

If you didn't vote, you can't complain. If you aren't praying daily for our leadership, the same rule applies. If you are praying for them, then trust God will honor those prayers and quit complaining! (can you tell I have a bit of an issue with this?)
If God can use pagan kings and pharos to accomplish His will, then he certainly can use a man like Obama who is bathed in prayer daily by thousands of believers.

I might not have voted for him, but I already have committed to pray for him. It is definitely our duty to do so, not just as christians, but as citizens of this country. He is now our commander and chief.

I gotta say, he wasn't my choice, but that aside, I was overwhelmed yesterday, once again, watching the glory of our nation, and how it changes power - how peaceful it was, how organized it was, and though I do have concerns about the future of our government, I was filled with a sense of deep patriotism, and I can honestly say in the deepest places of my heart that I hope President Obama is able to make positive, Spirit-led change in our nation.

I whole heartedly agree with everything you said. I actually blogged about it yesterday too--I was feeling so strongly about all of those things you just said.

This, just makes me sick to my stomach.
This is not what I want my tax money going for.

Honestly--too many people are putting all of their hope in this one man--it makes me extremely uncomfortable...to say the least.

instead of debating the merits of WDN or any other "news" sites why don't we just commit to praying that God will continue to turn the hearts of men and women who are "pro-murder" towards His own heart which is to give life and to give it abundantly.

Robert, all the mainstream news channels (CBS, ABC, CNN, Fox...) are reporting the same thing. Obama is supposedly issuing an order to day overturning the Mexico City Policy, and allowing public funding to provide abortions.
And thus begins the long slide down.... :(

1) I didn't say Obama specifically was "pro-murder" and even if I had it isn't sinful to state an observation about someone. It isn't hateful or bigoted.
2) There IS a large portion of people in this nation who believe abortion is murder. I am one of those. It is not sinful for me to believe that.
3) I don't HATE anyone who has committed the sin of abortion any more than I don't hate anyone who has lied, cheated, stolen, ate too much, or committed adultery. Sin is sin. I DO HATE that I am just as sinful as the next person, and I pray daily to God to deliver me from temptation.
4) Thank you for your input Robert. It is appreciated, but it is a tad bit on the zealous judgemental side. Please continue to flavor this forum with your perspectives and views. We respect them. But to imply that I (or anyone else who doesn't agree with the decision that the President has made today) am going to "burn" because I suggest that we pray for the hearts of people in our nation is a little offensive.
Let's keep this discussion going in the right direction. We're not necessarily here to blast Obama. But I see nothing wrong with posting items of interest that we should pray for.
God's Best.
Carry on.

For those who wish to stay on topic, Here's (http://www.christianitytoday.com/le/currenttrendscolumns/culturewatch/whattoprayfornewpresident.html?start=1) a great article about how we can be praying for our new president.

This looks familiar, doesn't it Nate?
Robert--please don't get bent out of shape. Like was stated already, all the news channels are reporting the same thing. Also with the closing down of GITMO and the CIA starting to be limited...and everything else that goes along with it. Scary times are coming upon us. And we need to be praying for Obama and the White House.
I'm not blasting him at all--and if you went to my blog to see what I wrote the other day, you'd actually understand. Don't jump to conclusions based on one thing someone says. Let's not turn this into the debates that we used to have on Frequency...that isn't the point. I know you like to argue, but please try to stay reasonable.

It's a prison in Guantanamo Bay. Where the government holds international thugs/criminals/etc. The issue with it is that there are no real 'rules' about how prisoners are treated and that sort of thing. Currently, there are people being held there who were responsible in one way or another for 9/11. So the issue is that Obama wants to shut this place down because of the lack of rules (people get beaten and tortured there I'm sure, on a regular basis) but shutting down this place would mean those people go free, and will not be tried for war crimes like Bush was trying to accomplish.
It'll create a huge mess, and basically open us up to more terrorist attacks. Not that we aren't already a target, but it'll show those against us that we can't do anything to stop them. If they're caught, they'll basically get a slap on the wrist and maybe life in a US prison if they're caught on US soil. If not...who knows...
I don't know how well I described all of that, so someone else feel free to elaborate or correct me. But, I think those are the basics anyway.

OK...I am going to duck out of this Conversation. This forum escaped the undignified Christian Campaign Bickering amongst Christians. I do not believe the administration will tolerate this kind of talk. For anyone to say President Obama is 'PRO-MURDER' is HIDEOUS, and it IS NOT OF A CHRISTIAN SPIRIT. I REBUKE THIS IN THE NAME OF JESUS CHRIST. Yes we must pray for our new President. We must encourage hope, and be examples of the Love of Jesus Christ. Thiose who promote HATRED and BIGOTRY in the Church of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ WILL BURN.
This post is so riddiculous and unfactual that I really wondered if this was made in jest. Obama is the most pro-abortion president ever. The evidence for this is clearly found in his voting record and his position on embryonic stem cell research and cloning. If you believe that abortion is murder, then Obama is pro-murder. His views go beyond pro-choice and extend to pro-abortion. It's sad really.
How many of you have had this looming sense that we had the most wonderful and tragic day in recent US history on Tuesday? The dreams of Martin Luther King Jr have been actualized by a person of color who does not embody the truths to which King Jr. himself thought to be the salvation of our nation: equal rights for all, including the unborn.

I know about Guantanamo.....I heard that Obama has suspended all pending trials and hope to close it down within a year. Hmmmm.....this is a serious matter indeed. Terrorism is now a global issue and there must be steps in place to deal with the threats.
Back home in Malaysia, the government has the power to detain anyone who is deemed as a threat to the security of the country, for an indefinite period. I don't think they have a camp like what they have in Guantanamo but they're in prison somewhere.

I think part of the idea of creating gitmo was so that it didn't take place on US soil. Which I suppose is probablya little backhanded, but it has been around for a long time. And...I'm afraid not to have it. How can you be in control of what people do on your soil if you have no way to punish them/detain them without making it seem like they're staying at the Hilton? you know?

Hey Gang,
Chiming in with a word from your fellow worshiper, moderator, and Founder. We're watching this thread closely, let's not get out of hand. There's no need to post things that would be deemed disrespectful - the culture here is of respect, love, and professionalism ...
This thread was created to say "let's pray", and let's keep it there w/o getting into a bunch of political debate. I'm sure there are other forums online that are more-suited to that.
Thanks! And now, back to your fun.

I am sick to my stomach over the abortion thing, which apparently went through today? Really...it makes me want to cry. AND...I do not want my tax dollars going to pay for that.
Does anyone else feel helpless? I'm praying...it's all I can do. But I have this awful feeling in the pit of my stomach...
