Our new pastor has been doing a series on worship, and doing different things in the service to show that "its not about style, it is about focus"....we have done things like communion in the round, message first, all the songs at the end, doing the message throughout the whole service instead of one section of time, and this week was the most different of all...and you have to understand, this is still a very traditional thinking church body, with some pretty strong feelings about how church should be...but we have sensed God moving in some neat ways....so this was our "contemporary/casual" service....

It was just the coolest thing....he had some easels set up with markers for writing what you were thankful for and answer the statement "God is...."...and two set up with paints where you could draw something that related to those two topics....we did all choruses/praise songs (now this is a big thing for our church)....and taught the congregation a new song (not to me, but to them).....it was just so cool to see that traditional congregation begin to see that it really is not about the trappings and packaging, but about the focus...Jesus, and Him lifted high....

Anyway, the old frequency forum does not exist anymore and that is where I worked through some very difficult times at our church over the past few years, and I just wanted to share with some other leaders/team members how wonderful it has been lately in our corporate worship setting and how over the top it was today....What a joy!

I have to admit I had about given up on our church, i figured God was done with us...but today I really felt like we have been given a new lease on life and a second chance....Now next week will be our more "liturgical" service which I was dreading, but am now looking forward too...

Anyway, thanks for letting me gush a bit...

Awesome. God is still alive and kicking :) See if you can carry that same spirit of enthusiasm and expectancy to the liturgical service - you never know what God will do when He shows up.

This is awesome - we desperately need to go outside the box and demonstrate that worship isn't just music or style! Thanks for sharing about this!
