Hope you all had a great weekend, I surely did! For the first time in my life I was able to got to the studio and produce a sample demo. It was an amazing experience. I thank God for the opportunity and I also thank my good friend Rob for helping me with this.
The song is called "Closer to You" it is a sample. I still have to add another verse and a bridge to it as well. I am also thinking about extending the verses, we will see about that though. Check it out and let me know what you think.

First of all....you sing great dude. A little Stevie Wonder influence....very subtle.
Verses solid.

Like it.
One critique on the chorus.
"Holding you in my arms"
sounds like a song to your girlfriend not to God in some ways.

not so fond of it b/c of its implications...
If God is holdable, it diminishes his "largeness and in chargeness." He cannot be held as the Creator by us the creatures. If anything He holds us (in His palm, from Hell, not to be snatched, etc.) I know you used it metaphorically but you might reconsider that line.

Maybe simple shift of person
Hold me in your arms
never let me go

or a back away and redrive up with something completely different.
very catchy and coporately usuable. I think you have a winner if you just tweak the lyric.

Thanks a lot for the critique on the chorus! I didn't see it that way and it makes total sense. I will definately make the change of persons. Explain a little of what you mean when you said "or a back away and redrive up with something completely different." What is a back way and a redrive up?

Also WorshipTrench what did you think about the musical arrangement in the introduction/beginning verse? I am thinking about changing it but I haven't come up with anything yet. I like the pre-chorus and chorus arrangements a lot and I don't want to change that but I do want to change the arrangement style (musically) of the introduction/beginning verse. What do you think?

backup and redrive is when i say, what if i totally forget what i wrote on that line(s) and try not to tweak but blow it up and come and that totally fresh and force myself to use a completely different thought.

Thank you Worshipcommunity for the wonderful feed back. I finally finished "Closer to You" last night. I added another verse as well as a powerful bridge. I really took your thoughts and ideas into concideration and made some changes to "Closer to You" I should be back in the studio soon to finish the song up. Here is the entire song. I am still open to your ideas or thoughts on it and I'm willing to make some changes, if something better comes along.

I do have a demo of the song if you want to listen it. This is somewhat how it is going to be with some changes to it in the future.

Thanks a lot Fred I really appreciate you taking your time to comment. No I haven't put the recorded version up yet with the edited lyrics but I will be doing that soon. When you said " a good candidate for featuring here..." what do you mean by that? I didn't quite understand what you were saying.

Again thanks. I am just waiting on God, having faith that He will continue opening doors for me in my songs. Keep me prayer my friend!

It is finally done my friends! I have completed my song "Closer to You" I made some lyrical changes to it, added another verse, and a powerful bridge as well. I really like how it sounds. This is not the final copy, we are still working on the mixes but overall it is accomplished. Thanks to everyone that helped me out and shared some ideas and thoughts, I really appreciate it. And keep me in prayer, so that God can continue to open doors and show His favor in mine and my families lives. Thanks again.
