Jason Uptons new release Beautiful People may be on Integrity Music's Praise and Worship label, but it only has one or two songs which could be considered to be in the P&W category. With lyrics like "Hey Jesus are you still on the cross or are you feeling better, hey Jesus will you come and play with me" one has to wonder where Jason is coming from these days. Both in lyrics and in composition this is a very weak recording. The only saving factor is a song called In Your Presence, which is a song about seeking God after losing touch of where HE is leading.

I give this CD 1 star out of a possible 5 and the only reason it gets that high of a rating is In Your Presence. Save your money by just downloading the one song instead of buying the whole CD.

Well, let's be honest. Jason has never been all about worship music anyway. I think you have to give Jason credit because he's doing something that no one else does. He's much like Keith Green was in his day in that he says things that evokes powerful word-images and indicts the way we think about God with powerful, emotion-driven glimpses into his own wrong thinking.

I recently downloaded this CD and while I'll agree with you that it's not Jason's best work, I'm willing to give it a 3 out of five. It's a far cry from a worship album, but it's Jason Upton doing what he does. I mean, brotha did a song on the "Remember" album where he just made "da-da" sounds. Call him spiritual or call him weird, he is who he is, and this album is just that: it is what it is.
