Hey Everyone,

I thought I'd open this up to the Community. I'm about to invest in some ad placement on CCLI.Com (http://www.ccli.com) for TheWorshipCommunity.Com. We need an inspiring, catchy ad that is 300x250.

Below is a sample 300x250 ad that I saved off the CCLI Site:
http://www.fredmckinnon.com/images/300x250.gif

Our original ad for the "referral contest" is ALMOST that size; however, I don't really think it inspires people to click away and leave one site to find us:
http://www.theworshipcommunity.com/images/twc_logo_gfx.gif

This graphic has the picture element of a worship service, and our name, but I'm not sure it invokes a "click".

Since I'm no marketing guru, and I'm most DEFINITELY not a graphic designer, I'm asking for your help. There is no financial reward here - if you'd like to contribute, just email or post your ad here. I'll get a panel to choose from all the submissions, and of course, we'll give you a hearty pat on the back, and a blog post and TWC email announcement about the winning graphic with links to your site/blog, etc.

WHAT WE WANT TO COMMUNICATE:

However we can do it ... we need to communicate in a 300x250 ad, that we are:
1. TheWorshipCommunity.Com site
2. Discussions are about worship, music, technology, leadership, ministry, resources
3. The ad needs to be about "them" ... the person viewing the ad, and what they can benefit, what they are missing.

Personally, some of the most appealing things about TWC include the networking, the technology ideas, and seeing how other WL's in other churches "do their thing".

If you'd like to participate, design your graphics, and post in this thread! The sooner-the-better!

1. You gotta start with your Zag factor (uniqueness) before you just "pick a graphic"
In one sentence describe The Worship Community in these Terms

The Worship Community is the ONLY web forum
that __________________________________________
who __________________________________________
where _________________________________________
why __________________________________________
when __________________________________________

Examples HARLEY DAVIDSON

WHAT: (the category)
The ONLY motorcycle manufacturer...
HOW: (point of differentiation)
...that makes big, loud motorcycles...
WHO: (audience segment)
...for macho guys (and macho "wannabees")...
WHERE: (marketing geography)
...mostly in the United States...
WHY: (need state)
...who want to join a gang of cowboys...
WHEN: (underlying tend)
...in an era of decreasing personal freedom.

HOOTERS (not endorsing them but they are well branded)
WHAT: (the category)
The ONLY chain of restaurants...
HOW: (point of differentiation)
...that hires overtly sexy waitresses...
WHO: (audience segment)
...for young male customers...
WHERE: (marketing geography)
...in the United States...
WHY: (need state)
...who want to indulge their libidos...
WHEN: (underlying tend)
...in an era of strict political correctness.

2. Then create the CRAVE statment. What benefit does The Worship Community bring to the well defined tribe (wl's, casual worship players, who). Don't tell them how good you make it, tell them how good it will make them.

3. Create a tagline based on the Crave statement.

4. Now you are ready for your graphic ...any other way and you'll outgrow the graphic in weeks, months, or even a year.

Get the Zag book (for review see http://www.worshiptrench.com/?p=300). You read it and 3 hours you'll have the foundations to marketing geniusness...i have read hundreds and it is by far the best and remarkably the easiest, fun read ever.

Dude FILL IN THE BLANKS fred and the graphic will build itself. Otherwise the ad won't catch the core.

My stab, please critique

The Worship Community is the ONLY web forum
that offers practical, usuable wisdom
who to church worship leaders in lead positions (as oppossed to team members, Tomlin fans, or worship laity etc.)
where in a conversational forum
why to learn from others experiences (good and bad)
when in a day where worship advice is not one size fits all

the when is the weakest statement.
