Hey Ya'll,
Well my friends around here have been telling me about this record for a while now. I even heard the title song on SongDISCovery, I think. It wasn't until this week that I made the connection - this "Brian Johnson (http://www.brianandjennjohnson.com)" is the son of Bill Johnson, the pastor of Bethel (http://www.ibethel.org) in Redding, CA. I love Bill, I love Bethel, I love what they teach, and the spirit they have. That made this album more desirable.
Shannon (http://www.myspace.com/setonedgeband), the Associate Worship Director of SSCC is leading worship this Sunday and he's introducing "O Taste and See" as the walk-in song. As soon as I heard it I said "Man, what is that song!?". When he told me, I thought "OK, that's too many people talking about this album and these worship leaders". Travis (the Tech Director) and I immediately opened iTunes (http://www.brianandjennjohnson.com) in the sound booth and bought the CD.
I can't review the entire album because I can't get away from two songs.

"O Taste and See" (http://click.linksynergy.com/fs-bin/stat?id=QJ*v0oJgqDc&offerid=78941&type=3&subid=0&t mpid=1826&RD_PARM1=http%253A%252F%252Fphobos.apple .com%252FWebObjects%252FMZStore.woa%252Fwa%252Fvie wAlbum%253Fi%253D198866422%2526id%253D198866038%25 26s%253D143441%2526partnerId%253D30) - a more pop, british-sounding, driving song of praise - I love it, and I'm already considering it for Worship Under the Stars.
"Where You Go, I'll Go" (http://click.linksynergy.com/fs-bin/stat?id=QJ*v0oJgqDc&offerid=78941&type=3&subid=0&t mpid=1826&RD_PARM1=http%253A%252F%252Fphobos.apple .com%252FWebObjects%252FMZStore.woa%252Fwa%252Fvie wAlbum%253Fi%253D198866422%2526id%253D198866038%25 26s%253D143441%2526partnerId%253D30) - OK, this is the song that made me blog (http://www.fredmckinnon.com/myblog/index.php). OH MY! SWEEP ME AWAY. Unless your congregation is a bit more acclimated to a more prophetic, open worship style, this may be more applicable for your personal time of prayer and worship. I can't turn this up loud enough. I can't listen to it enough. This has a very strong "Don Potter" touch on it ... I dunno if Brian and Jenn would agree, but I wouldn't be surprised if they've been influenced by Don, as I know he's done a good bit of teaching in their school of worship at Bethel.
The beginning of the song is OK - interesting, unique ... but it's the explosion of spontaneous, open praise and worship that bursts forth later into this 10-minute track that leaves me lost in a place of an incredible captivity.
If you only have $.99 to spend - get "Where You Go, I'll Go" ... if you can shell out $1.98 - get the other song. $9.99 gets you the entire album on iTunes. Hope it stirs you the same way it moved me!
For the Kingdom,
Fred
