Hello!
Like most of my species, I find it extremely fascinating to talk about myself; and knowing that an exorbitantly less percentage of the same people actually like to hear about my minuscule exploits, I'll do my best to keep it simple and to the point here!

Bio:

Born in Colorado in the early 80's.
Started playing piano.
Had an encounter with Jesus that forever changed my life.
Moved to Oregon in early 90's.
Started doing sound at church; age 9
Started playing guitar and keys with other bands as well as at church
Got involved in musical outreach ministry with friends and family
My family started our own full time, mobile outreach organization called The Heartbeat of Jesus Ministries.
1998: Lead "real" worship for the first time in our traveling tabernacle of worship (a 66' X 114
' tent). What a life changing day that was!

Ever since then life has been a whirl of activity and new adventures. I've been blessed with awesome relationships across N. America with others who share in my passion for the King's worship; and I always enjoy talking with fellow God-hungry musicians about the exhilaration and mystery contained in this tangible phenomenon we call corporate worship.

I've lead worship in some interesting places: From a "mega" church in Washington to the sidewalks of downtown L.A. and from a Mexican Food restaurant in Texas to my own living room, my favorite place to lead is anywhere there are hungry hearts. Give me 5 people who love to worship God and I'll take that over 5,000 people who just come to socialize (call me selfish!).

Having spent the last 8 yrs struggling to remain relevant and up to date as a worship leader, I've recently just given up and thrown myself into spending all I have on the Divine Heavenly Bridegroom. I don't care much for fluffy theology, though I have a firm foundation in the Word and stand on it every day. I'm also interested in indigenous music styles and scales these days, especially when the people native to them use them in worship of the Creator!

I have a firm belief that good corporate worship starts in the home, when no one else is around but the Lord and me. I've tried leading worship out of the empty place of performance and don't like it, though if someone wants a good show I'll oblige. My favorite time of the day is mealtimes...

Whew! There, see I told you I like to talk about myself! Now that's out of the way I'm looking forward to learning a lot here and meeting all of you!

Richness,
Theron

GLAD TO SEE THE BIO! Can't wait to see/hear more from you on the forum - sounds like you've got a lot to share, and as you hang out with the Creator, I know revelation flows!

Amen! Nice to meet you Theron. I hope to read more posts from you! I hope you enjoy this little gathering here as much as I do. God bless you and your ministry!

Theron, the first time I ever led worship was in a tent, too. How wild is that? Glad to meet you.

The first 'Christian rock' concert I ever played was in a tent in front of a pentecostal church and we got shutdown by the cops. We were honored.

Cool! You'd be surprised to hear how many people gave their lives to Jesus in a tent... We get people coming up to us all the time telling how they went to a tent 20+yrs ago and had an encounter with God that changed their lives.

A few years ago we had the tent set up and had finished a meeting one night and there were about 50+ people still left in the front of the tent receiving personal ministry; that's when the police came in. They said, "Hey you guys need to shut down your horn section!" Well, we just had one guy playing a guitar by himself... it happened a number of times in the same town where people complained about a horn section we never had!

I enjoy doing worship in a tent; there's a certain spiritual freedom there that I miss in church (not to say anything bad about church, I love her in a platonic sort of way...) That photo is hilarious!
