If your prime value is excellence, you might tell them my system has no room and thus you need to take a hike.

If inclusiveness supersedes your excellence value, you’ll blow up your system to include more people.

I am greatly encouraged by this answer. I appreciate this answer comes from God’s word. I fear leadership is often quick to rely on their own understanding and experience and forget to listen for what God has to say. The worship leader at a church I attend came to our church from Saddleback Church. My perception of his response to this opportunity is similar to that of the person asking this question. He ask if those auditioning are members of the church and told those that did not “make it” there are other places to serve then pointed to the parking lot ministry.

Rick is amazing! When he lead at our church a week ago, I was almost in tears the entire time – he is such a man of God and doesn’t even act as though he realizes what an affect he has on the kingdom! He blesses our teams so much!
